If you are looking for a PHP/MySQL solution is no free one.
We coded a script called iRedirector and sell it for only $ 39.99. It's MySQL based and has many many features no other script of this kind has ;) Just have a look at www.scripts24.com

There is one free CGI script, but I personally didn't like it and it also has some bugs (or at least did not work correctly on my RaQ3) so I coded iRedirector. If you want to check it out anyway: http://cgi.ericmarques.net/

So what are these features that no other script of this kind has? :)

The biggest advantage of the script is its admin-interface. You can choose to moderate new signups, easily ban offending users just by clicking their account, delete accounts not used for x days and much more. There is also a search engine to search the members database. And of course you get the "real" admin script (unlike to the scripts from go2cgi which has this remotely hosted administration).
You can have a look at our admin script @ http://www.scripts24.com/demo/iredirector/admin.php (login and password: guest)

Another cool feature is that iRedirector displays custom error messages if a users url goes down (useful to put some ads there). It support all important meta tags (description, keywords, revisit and robots). Members can also choose to "kill frames" which means that if someone tries to link the site into his frame the frame gets killed.

I guess that are its unique features.

But since it's (as far as I know) the only PHP/MySQL based subdomain redirection script available, that's an argument for itself. It's much better, faster and easier to setup than those flatfile-perl-scripts :)

Ever heard of iDirect? I'm not going to advertise it since the person getting the profits isn't abiding by the agreement I made with them, but it has quite a few features. Some that you don't have, although yours has some it doesn't have. I'm the one that wrote that script.

Nice name you have <cough> :)
