Domains will never be free. Otherwise the market would become even more saturated then it is and you'll have domains like cool1836546.net

It'll be just like on free IM services or etc. It's free, gets over saturated. Keeping it at a price, even if a small one, helps keep the market unique.

very true! But also remember i suspect new domain extensiosn will also pop along eventually. Always seem to be getting newer ones in the UK every year.

Saturated or not, new extensions and new names are popping up at a very fast rate.
