i'm suspecting sever downtime from my host (i'd rather not say who). Is there any service or script or something that could measure the uptime (and preferably log it so i have proof)?

Thanks

Your log files. Any outside source is bound to be inaccurate, and will be of little to no help to you. It will tell you when it is down and when it is up, but I don't think I'd use it as something to go back to the host with.

do you think it would piss em off if i used their email address on a monitoring service so it would mail them each time my site is offline? :D

(or would that actually be a good idea...)

I'd personally filter the mail. :D
