try blurring the edges of a white rectangle over a transparent background, that should work..

create a new image with transparent background
draw a white rectangle (u can do this by using the marquee tool to select a rectangular area, then fill it white)

use the marquee tool and have it draw a box that contains the edge of the white rectangle and part of the background. this will allow you to blur just the edge and the background together.. then use the gaussion blur tool..

Then how do you "integrate" two or more images into each other, so that it becomes transparent when images intersect.

photoshop uses layers.. just copy that layer with the blurring with transparency into the image, and position that layer accordingly..

BTW, if anyone knows a better way to do it, please post. I'm not an expert, but I did do a lot of serious photoshop stuff a few years ago... i'm a bit rusty now..

What kind of blur? BTW, I'm using Photoshop 4....

stu

gaussian blur should do it...

In Photoshop 4?! Where?

Never mind, I found it. Lemme experiment with this a bit...

Uh, the guassian blur just... blurs everything. Is that what I want to get?

What I meant by the transparent thingy is sorta like this: http://www.anime100.com/images/nav2_eva.gif You can see through the images where they intersect.

for gaussian blur, you can set how much blurryness you want.. if you don't select a specific area with the marquee tool, it will blur the entire image..

EDIT: oh wait. i didn't notice that you had two things merged together in the first pic.. i see now what you are trying to do..

do you know how to work with layers and the layers panel? (Window >> Show Layers)

yep what you should do is create a new canvas, paste in your pic.. make sure your canvas is bigger than your pic.. on the layer where you pic is on, use the marquee tool to encircle an edge of your picture and the background... then use the gaussian blur..

So, uh, do you know how?

stu

urr.. ok.. i didn't see your second pic, that's a better example..

in the second pic, they are using a combination of what I just told you, and they've also adjusted the transparency of each part so that it transitions from one picture to another..

it's kinda hard to explain, but if you know how to manipulate layers in photoshop, then you can easily reproduce something like that.

Do explain... :)

do you know how to work with the layers panel? if you bought the legit version of photoshop 4, it should come with an instructional tutorial CD, where some guy shows you how to work with the interface and how to apply blurring and transparency techniques... it's quite useful..

otherwise, the basic idea is that you take your images, blur the edges, and make them a little transparent.. combine all the images into one file, having each image on a separate layer. then manipulate the layers so that the edge of one image overlaps the edge of another...

 Would you really think that I bought Photoshop? ;)

No, I have not touched the layers panel, all the previous graphics I made did not require the use of it. Well, maybe it's because I don't know how to use it... :p

Just teach me how to make the images "a little transparent". I'll try to figure out the rest.

...please. :)

Hmm...or get out the eraser, put it on small pressure, and a fairly large brush, then put a straight line of erasing right across the spot you want to fade out. If that makes sense...

Hey.. I have Adobe Photoshop 6.. and I was wondering if you can actually have the text outlined with a color just like you can do with Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7.. I've searched on my Adobe Photoshop program.. for a good while.. and never found such ability to do so..

..so can you even at all outline text in Adobe Photoshop?

Ya think so? I agree that PSP might be a bit easier, but Photoshop can do ANYTHING. Have you ever tried something like Corel Draw? That is friggin hard to use compared to Photoshop. Mostly cause it doesn't confrom, know what I mean? To select multiple things, you hold SHIFT, not CTRL like on most programs and stuff like that.

I'm sure that there is a computer centre or college near where you live that offers courses in many popular computer programs including photoshop. The price would probably be worth it for the knowledge and ability youd have after the course.

I know you can do the outline text in Photoshop 5.0. I'm not sure how to do it in Photoshop 6.. I think they changed a lot in that one. Best bet would be to go look for photoshop tutorials on the web, or ask on a photoshop discussion forum..

It's easy to outline a text with different color with Photoshop (4 of course, I dunno if they canceled out this feature in the later versions).

You use the text tool. Write your stuff without clicking on any options (well, maybe you can, but I never experimented with it). Then switch to the color you want and use the text tool again. This time, click on the Outline option. Move the outline layer to the appropriate place, and you're done! :)
