Read the question, and answer.
I use WinXP SP1, and am thinking of switching to Win2000.

I'll pass for SP2 also.. I was on the phone to my friend when he was installing it and all he kept asking was "How the f* do i get rid of it?!"
I just laughed while he did a system restore, then told him it has an uninstall feature ;)

I got a free SP2 CD in the mail, so I had to install it. I like it because it was free, and not downloaded from some dodgy site.

Windows XP SP2...
SP2 is good, but one thing that bugs me is on sites with automatic downloads like download.com it prevents it from downloading. But it is easy to "click here" if it doesnt automatically start.

I find SP2's pop-up blocker to be more of a nuisance and less effective than google toolbar's.
Gregr
September 30th, 2004, 06:58
i agree it is very annoying and so is the blocking of active x so i just turned it off
bozley05
September 30th, 2004, 07:07
you can just change the active x settings in internet explorer i have found, rather than turning the whole thing off.
and b4 everyone starts having a go at me for using internet explorer, yes i have firefox, i just like to test in IE.
Gregr

Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with IE. I must admit Firefox is a lil bit faster, and tabbed-navigation is cool... but some of these hardcore computer people get very touchy when it comes to Microsoft.
They call them evil and the devil etc... What they don't understand is that they are a company, they started small and grew because they have good, user friendly products. Companies don't set out in their business and marketing plans to make $2million profit a year and close the doors for the rest of the year to give other people a go.
It is about sales and market share objectives, you try and get all that you can. If people have a problem, develop a good product, get some marketing dollars together and take them on, otherwise learn to live with the facts of business, Microsoft's employees have families to feed.

Regardless, (I've yet to read their mission statement though) a company should endeavour to provide their customer with THE best possible product for their dollar.
I consider myself a 'hardcore computer person' but I don't believe that Microsoft are evil and the devil - the general computer population have a collective IQ that equates to -1337 :P

They call them evil and the devil etc...
I don't think Microsoft is "evil" per se... I just think they have buggy, insecure, overpriced, substandard products, so I don't use any of them.
My choice and no regrets.
