Hi,
Just wondereing how do companies make domains and let people register them. For example .tk. how did they set that up. And is there laws to set up domains?

Laws, hell yes they have laws, all issued by the main ICANN dude. Companies have a sign up system (most are automated) so once you've registered a domain, it'll appear in their DNS system. Of course they gotta connect with the root DNS server to check whether the domain is available for that particular extension or not. If registration is successful, domain registrar pay the top dog money, charge you more for some profit.

yep, and in this case, for .com/net Verisign/Network solutions would be the top dog, and Afilias is the top dog for info, you can find more info at icann's site

however, there is some really lame software you can get that installs a browser plugin and lets you type in dot.anything... the thing that worries me, how do the peeps get the plugin in the first place.
its like, hey guys check out vistmysite.whatever but first goto pluginsite.com and download the plugin, then come visit me... hahaha
