an i don't mean 'publisher' as they usually just distribute games - not create.

for eg the following make games for others -

climax - diablo, warcraft, motoGP
bungie - halo, myth, marathon
rareware - perfect dark, goldeneye, battletoad
westwood - command & conquer, lands of lore, dune
valve - half life, counter-strike, team fortress
maxis - simcity, full-tilt, top ten

I dislike UbiSoft.
Their management is disgusting.

Let me tell you a story of a friend of mine.

After finishing his studies, he founded a lil game company with some of his friends, focusing on the audio aspect of games.

Then one day UbiSoft came in and told them. "We'd like to buy you. xxxxxx$"
So they transfered that company in a new department at UbiSoft Montreal.
My friend was the lead programmer for the that department.

Then his superior decided to quit and offered my friend his position.
He hapilly agreed and couldnt wait till the day he was nominated superior.

That day came. The Boss called him and told him that he got the superior position.
BUT, that he will still get his old salary. Basically he had to do twice the job for the same salary. Outrageous. Not even a tiny raise. It was either that or nothing at all.

So he quit too.

This was not too long ago. He's enjoying his unemployement now and looking for a good position at another company that will pay him right for his work.

Valve didn't create Counter-Strike.

Anyways, on that list, either RockStar or Blizzard. For GTA and WoW.

Hm, might have to go with Capcom on this one. I also am a bit of a fan of Ubisoft, simply because of 'Beyond Good & Evil'. The only adventure game I have been obsessed with from beginning to end. Such an amazing game. I played it absolutely nonstop until I finished it. Ah, happy times. :P I look at that game sitting with all our other Cube games and it makes me happy. :classic2:

Thats coz Blizzard dont make games, they just distribute other peoples clever work, an the same goes for EA an others mentioned here.

ps- contary to a previous query, the 'final fantasy' games are polled here thru 'Square Co'. :)
