:shame: :shame:

I have learned to NEVER say anything negative about a host unless your not hosted there anymore. Make sense?

Some places are more democratic allowing some negative things to be said in their personal forums. Some censor their forums and lock threads.

I sort of have a question and maybe advise for others?

I have accounts on a host. I have renewed annually by sending paypal payment ahead of time to avoid last minute problems.(they say if you don't pay in a few days (renewal notices) account looses grandfathering and all that stuff so?)

A week ago I sent my normal paypal payment to past address to send payments and included a message what it was for. This is a direct transfer from my bank account--not a credit card....

Time went on and I got no reciept or acknowledgment of any kind.

I opened a ticket in their support section.

About the only help I got was my payment could be applied to buy something NEW.

I next tried to explain in a comment that chronically I have renewed this way and sort of 'whats the deal now'?

Next response by another support person scolds and warns me for 'not being nice'. i.e. watch what you say !!!!!

I was told to have account set up for manual payments (which I have always done it that way) I was told about all I could do with my 'seems lost' payment was CANCEL IT AT PAYPAL.

YES--I was told to cancel it.

I go to PAYPAL and tranfers from bank accounts can not be cancelled. I have to fill in dispute forms to try to get the money back.(in 30 days+,etc.)

I make a post in the forums there with big open questions about present billing procedure. The post was locked. (later removed) Nothing inflammatory here as to what I said.

I go back to the hosts support ticket system and notice my questions and whole thread was set to CLOSED.

Sooooooooooooo....In my haste go back to paypal. I was told to cancel the payment so? Again PayPal gives no options of cancel with a bank transfer.

Soooooooooooo..I'm forced to make out a DISPUTE form. I simply state that payments to @address of this host are not working and from the experience the @address of question seems the wrong address to send any funds. Up to now nobody has given me an alternative except---cancel paypal payment so?

If I'm too hasty in a dispute you have to act fast !!! The faster the better odds you might see your money again.(such as credit card disputes with your bank, etc.)

I get a fast refund from host who seems is going complete hysterical.

I AM DAMAGING THE HOSTS 100% POSITIVE WITH PAYPAL.

I do my best at apology but nothing accepted and I AM ONE WHO IS ALL WRONG.

Also it seems paypal has no recourse to withdraw a dispute that is resolved.(if it was left open it could be cancelled)

Result of this? The service I paid for 2004 is gone (my site) but my '2005' payment is refunded into paypal.

Question. I was all wrong..right? I am a person that works fast on various matters so I admit maybe I moved too fast.

If anybody here sent a payment as explained above would all just sit back and continue to write support tickets that got no resolution and were CLOSED? If left open..well....

Moral of story? Don't ever complain about a host if you still have anything there? geeeee You are told to cancel at PayPal and all I say in dispute the payments to @hostaddress are not working and have been offered no alternative.(in effect no other address to submit payments)

I think what I tried to ask is do all you keep 100% silent when you think your getting abused and getting treated bad by a host?

Any examples from others that got booted for saying something or complaining?

Any comments if I was VERY WRONG for complaining when I still have a site at a place?

What would you do if you sent a payment and it gets no recognition? Then finally told to cancel at PayPal. (which means you gotta complain vs. the host)

AHHHHHHHH...I should never have started this confusing thread !!!!

I came here because I can't post at webhostingtalk.com. It has nothing to do with me. They chronically block whole domains.(in my case ISP=MSN)

Name the host? I'm not ready to bash the host as such yet. Once done it does have negative effects.

Theres so many hosts out there, why put up with any hassles at all ? Just simply change hosts. I had problems with my previous 2 hosts and finally i just said "screw it" and got my own server.

NZN, there are many hosts out there but that's not always a good thing. Some aren't great, some are awful, some are fantastic. It's kinda hard to know or find out in advance which are gonna fall into which category. All you can really do is ask other people at places like this about their experience.

The thing is, even then you'll get conflicting advice...

I agree that the best thing you can do is to not complain while you're still being served by a company, but arrange to move elsewhere and put it down to bad experience.

I have 3 different hosts. Now there's no real reason why I have three different hosts except that I own a .me.uk, a .com and a .co.uk - and when I've bought the domains different companies have done them for different prices. Generally, I've stuck with the companies and have only changed once when the customer service hasn't been what I expected. Far from it in fact. But that's another matter discussed elsewhere...

If a lot of people say a lot of bad things about a company, then ultimately that company will get the hump (and probably sue someone up to the eyes). If you do badmouth a company but then everything gets resolved in the end - ie, your complaint gets the company to sort it out - then say so. You've gotta back up your comments by letting people know what happens next. Otherwise you aren't painting a fair and balanced picture of the situation.

Sorry to lecture but that's how I see it.
