Does anybody know anything about http://www.tacidhost.com/ ??? Address of owner/operator?

This place has been collecting $20 most of year 2001 but been 'down' most the time it seems with about the same excuse.It would appear that this place never intended to operate a web hosting service but to collect $20 from people worldwide. $20 too good to be true? It would seem anybody could somehow post some info as to whats going on? (in some messageboard? --does he have email ability?)


Its only $20 but I don't feel like just sitting back and getting ripped off. Somebody should know exactly who this person 'shane?" is? Where he is located? ya know..these days you can't go to ebay and rip people without getting booked.



There have to be many many out there that forked out the $20. 20x10=200 20x100=2000 20x1000=20000 A new car?

I have no idea if tacid host will arise again but as a person that signed up for space I'm tired of the nonsense.It would seem the place has been down almost since I signed up.If all is legit problems my apology.(even then a person does pay for services)


I mailed one nice email to the address at msn.com and another from another email address.I simply asked..what is going on? I got a reply to each email address that said nothing but had an attachment. The header on the email was forged with my address. Here's a look at the email and attachment;;;;;

I don't know if my email address has been infected but no other email I have sent of recent has any evidence of attachments or other bazaar stuff.

zz4 - If nothing else you should be able to get him for sending the virus. If I understand right he refers to it in the email, so it's obvious it's sent deliberately. Zip the virus up and pamper it. Nice piece of evidence.

That virus thing is awful strange.I have not been around long enough to know how to make a virus.


It sits in 2 of my mailboxes and I have not opened it so..... I don't know WHY if intentional..my emails were nice and did not use ones I use to post here,etc.


hey...I'm not looking to 'book' anybody. I feel if he's a legit crook somebody should eventually stop him. yah know..even a lousy $20 deserves a complaint to somewhere?


Now if he did come back on-line from what I've seen so far it will be the identical nonsense.Give it a week or two and he will say he's been booted from his servers or whatever but coming back soon offering everybody bigger and better. That will take about a month. I hear nothing about 'credits' to subscribers for the 95% downtime.


hey..webdude.I even see your in here !!!! I have one pro account at your place.I'm thinking about another one. If you still have that $12 banner free thing though can't beat that for price. As much as I believe and like free webhosting I'm afraid though the free sites are going to sink worldzone. If 30,000,000 get free sites who pays for them? I think you people at least watch your books and if your going 50 million in debt you take action before you sink?


Enough rumbling from me and don't mean to post attacks here but I could not avoid it as to tacidbue-tacidhost. I wish I would see some evidence he's really a nice guy having problems but as of yet just bad news.

Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought it was Shang that wrote "Take a look at the attachment". I mean, if he did, he must have been aware of that he was sending it. Of course, that string can have been added by the virus, in which case Shang is himself a victim. You can read abut it at the below URL. Look up "Win32.Badtrans.13312". It doesn't say anything about it adding a massage, but it can very well be so. It's a common behavior, but it's usually more descriptive, like "Check this naked picture of my girlfriend! WOW!!!" ;)

Hey zz4...Actually free is where a large portion of our Pro users come from, so we definitly cant drop free. Yes, we watch our books closely. We were $100,000 in debt before Pro, and that's down to $80,000 since opening Pro.

The other services you see us opening arent actually Worldzone's. Such as Stormwebs.com and ResellPro.com, those are both mine not the company's :)

I played with free webhosts for about 3 years.I simply like to make personal websites.As of recent times the free places are dropping like flies.My life in 2001 consists of moving things on websites and then place moved to will then be gone.

Then there still seems to be new free places popping up all the time. I've lost my patience. I finally signed up for Wordzone Pro and TacidBlue-TacidHost looking for a little more security against disappearing places. I don't need a bunch of fancy frills nor need a bunch of bandwidth so I felt the economy places would serve me fine.


I recall WorldZone was having problems but I did not go the messageboards cursing WorldZone.I did not either with Tacid when they first went down. I did start cursing Tacid when they seem to have 95% downtime....and all the oddities reported in these messageboards. So wheres my $20? As of now it must be several months with 95% downtime.Now its June 11 and any news on Tacid?


As to the free stuff sinking WorldZone? I loved the days when one could make unlimited free websites at unlimited places. I smell that might be gone. If Yahoo announces they are going to charge for webspace probably everybody left goes that way also. I think even Fortune City smells like its going down now.(partially owned by Time-Warner? First thing they did is close AcmeCity and tell everbody to move to AOL Homepages.Sorry..you have to be an AOL member...) Terrashare just closed.

I wish more places would offer free sites and offer premium pay sites vs. just going pay only. Freeservers and all those 'Community Architect" sites are really pushing premium sites now but so far still offering free.

I don't know the problem with advertising industry.Personally I think they use a flawed concept.When you see an ad on tv or hear it on your radio you get up and 'click' the radio or tv? Driving down the road you see a billboard and stop the car and take a hike and 'click' it? It would seem just a static ad on a page would influence somebody.A banner for Firestone Tires? People have to click it to get influenced?

I completely agree about the ads. TV and radio ads are based on impressions. They get a general idea of how many people watch a particular show, then they know about that many people saw the ad. Internet ads should be the same. However, if they did that, only the highest traffic sites would be able to get them.

As for WZ free, it uses a lot of bandwidth, but very little resource because we dont allow cgi or php there anymore, and never will again. If people want those for free, they will have to keep signing up with all the "guranteed to die" fwp's that pop up, or they can get a pay account. After a few thousand users, those things use to much resource and you find out the real cost too late.

I dont think "free" on the net is dying, just free hosting. There will still be plenty of free webmaster resources, news, etc. If WZ started getting too many people came to wz at once due to others shutting down, then of course we'd have to bring it down to something like 25 megs or whatever, possibly 12. Hopefully others stay up, I dont want to be the only FWP alive...LOL

Most normal people who only wish to make personal non-commercial no-frills needed websites are not going to put more money out than one or two economy places.(?) I try to think many many will just decide its just not worth the money to put something on the web.Then international users? u.s.dollars?


Today...ZING photo storage is closing...Homestead is dropping free....


Sometimes I wonder if its not that they can't survive BUT they can't ever pay back their multi-millions of debt.(that venture investment stuff...)

In one of the original emails from "Shang" (the guy that "ran" TacidHost/TacidBlue), I found a telephone number. Calling the telephone number, I discovered that it still works. When I asked for Shang, the guy that answered said he went to "Texas University". So, I did a reverse lookup of the telephone number. Here is all the information I found.
