Greetings,
I run an entertainment (humour) site that allows users to rate and comment on mullet haircuts. The site receives aobut 7000-8000 page views a day.
I applied to most of the major CPM-based networks, but I got rejected from all of them. With the current internet advertising conditions, would you say that I'm out of luck for making profit from banner ads?

Thanks!

I don't mean to be harsh but, yes, absolutely.

Not only is the entire market soft at present...blah, blah...but sites of that nature are particularly reviled by CPM (and even CPC/CPA-based) advertisers. The reason for the first is simple enough - 'click to progress' systems are considered to exist in the incentivized/community segment of the market which sees high pageview counts per unique visitor, and below-average response rates.

CPC and CPA-based banner agencies are similarly averse to these sorts of sites since they put an unnecessary drain on the agency's servers in terms of bandwidth.

Does anyone here in the entertainment scene have any tips to offer for how jrap can best monetize his investment?

I would suggest using StandardInternet.com and CJ.com. Other than that nothing.

I'd suggest popunders. Try the SI's popup program.
CJ is also a good choice.
