Hey there,
I'm going to network wirelessly my computers.
I'm thinking of getting this:
Linksys WMP54GS (http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=36&prid=621)
Linksys WRT54GS (http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=35&prid=610)
cable modem -> router
router -> cable -> computer1 (onboard Lan)
router -> wireless -> computer2 (The PCI card)
router -> wireless -> wifi laptop (built in wifi)
Would that work?
Also, any comments about that marketing thingy "SpeedBooster" that supposedly increases speeds by upto 35%?
Thanks

I have the same setup. I live in military barracks, so I got the guy two floors up with internet to set up a wireless network. He cables into the router, while I use wireless. Unfortunately, only B will get me connected, G won't even pierce the floors. :(
And every brand has their own version of the SpeedBooster. But you only get the speed gains if you use same-brand products. i.e, netgear router with netgear card, linksys router with linksys card. They both have to support the technology. It says on the box.

Sure it will work. The speedbooster does increase signal strength in some cases, but I wouldn't buy it because of that extra feature. The router itself is a great router and you should have no problems with it.
As far as the PCI Card you will be using, I prefer the USB Adapters one since they allow you to place the USB Receiver higher up for better signal.

Well I wish I would of posted that sooner :)
I ended up with Linksys WMP54G non speedbosted and the pci Linksys WRT54G.
Usb was even cheaper.. oh well, I'm still happy with it.
I have a steady Very Good 36-48Mbps connection according to that lil tray icon :)
Now I got a prob with the network
The computers dont recognize each other, but internet works
1: Win XP Pro Eng
2: Win XP Home Fr
Any ideas?
/edit/
more details:
On Pc 1 in "Microsoft Windows Network" window I got Mshome and Workgroup
mshome gives me pc1
workgroup gives pc2
When trying to access pc2, I get a box with PC2/guest, enter pasword
On Pc 2 in "Microsoft Windows Network" window I got Mshome and Workgroup
mshome gives me pc2
workgroup gives me pc1
When trying to access pc1, I get a box with access denied
/edit2/
It appears PC1 can see shared drives on PC2,
but PC2 can't see shared drives on PC1
