Hello!

I am working with a non-profit organization to get their info on the internet. I have been working with them for about a year. I secured a domain name for them and they have been using a cheap hosting service. I was told of an ISP/hosting service that hosts non-profits for free, but upon contacting them I learned they no longer offer that service for free. I am having billing troubles with the host I am using now and would appreciate a free host. I am going to try to search through this site, but would appreciate any replies!

Thanks much, pumpkinoel

Well,

There are a few hosts that should accomodate you, depending on what exactly you are looking for. Here are my suggestions:

www.netfirms.com -- a very solid and reliable domian host (cgi, ftp, php?); nonetheless, if you mind having banner ads, then you might not like them.

www.portland.co.uk -- this host will host your domain with no ads and all the features (php, cgi, mysql, ftp), but are a little on the slow side; also, if you don't mind this and a low bandwidth limit (100mb a month, which equates to about 5,000 - 10,000 visitors a month, assuming that you don't have any big downloads).

All the others are a mess

I went through all the hosting woes with the non-profit organization I am with now...Tried alot of free hosts but none of them were reliable or they had ads---We were with portland.co.uk for a while but their bandwidth limit was ridiculous--we used it up. So.......we finally went with paid hosting...Ok I know this belongs on the other board but we went with dynastyhost.com Great service and reasonable. We are very happy with them!!
