In the last time there have been quite some postings here about free webhosting running out of time, hosts closing etc. I just want to say what I think about this:
Free webhosting will always be here (perhaps not in the form we know it, but itīll be there!)
If a host offering "unlimited everything" and no ads goes down
after awhile shouldnīt surprise anyone, but what other sites are going down? Hosts offering too much, impopular hosts, hosts being used by cyberspace pirates to store illegal files, hosts run by beginners, who gets tired of the whole thing.
So whats left?
* webservers with "leftover resources" that can offer free webspace to maybe a few dozens of pages (who will give the
server "free" advertising)
* Companies who successfully combines free webhosting with
paid hosting (like worldzone)
* Some of the big ones (like maybee Geocities... )
Servers thatīll come and go:
* Servers run by people who doesnīt know exactly what they are doing, for example all those unlimited places.
* Large super-commercial banner-financed hosts, who need
stupid investors in order to survive :D
* some hosts being managed by people who is in it for fun
(they might actually last quite some time, but quite a few
goes down quickly)
Hmm, I think I have made my point clear.... I may have repeted myself on a few things however ;)
