The hosting sounds great but does anybody know how to create an account and use the service? When I telnet to the site, after I login, it keeps asking for a cookie.
So does anybody have an account and know how the site works? Btw, does it force ads on member sites?

obviously you are not a unix person ;)
you create an account BY telnetting to their server, then use the create an account script to create your account (it's basically adduser :p). i believe they use ksh or some crap like that. their file system is not that of a default linux setup.

Hi,
- Login to sdf.lonestar.org with Securecrt,
- Sign up, you get sent by email a cookie number
- Login again and type the cookie number
- Bingo you got an account
- Type mkhomepg, which makes your homepage dir
- cd html .. and rz and select your files to upload :)
You can see your files at http://freeshell.org/~username
Oh and you might need to change permissions on files or dirs, so chmod 755 filename or chmod 777 filename.
Type addlink to get your homepage at yourusername.freeshell.org
There are no banners however I am not sure how much space there is.
