Yeah AOL is turning Netscape from a browser based company to a DotCom company which will provide business and other services. Although they still have some developers working on Netscape , Netscape 6.1 was just released. Now some one needs to prop up Opera to take on IE.

If you want Netscape browsers, just go to www.mozilla.org

They're the ones making the Netscape browsers.

Yay! Long Live Micro$oft! ( did I just say that?), Heh, anyways, I hope this is the end if this stupid browser war. Its real annoying writting up a site that is compatible for both.

I think there will be more versions of Netscape. Just that the browser won't be the company's main item. Seems like there have been more rumors than facts concerning this.

Netscape Denies Browser Escape
By Andy Patrizio

Netscape Communications is denying reports that it's bailing out of the PC browser market it once dominated. To further that point, the company has issued the first beta of its new Netscape 6.1 browser.

Earlier this month, Reuters quoted Netscape president Jim Bankoff as saying that "six months from now, you won't consider Netscape to be a browser company," and the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Netscape was "stripped of responsibility for creating its namesake browser." Those reports set off rumors that Netscape was ready to throw in the towel on the browser market.

Amen!!! To be honest, I don't worry about it now really, unless I'm doing a site for a client. According to stats, about 80% of the visitors to my sites use IE, anyway.
