F2S accounts are activated only the next morning so you will have to wait 5-6 hours until you can FTP or you can access your accounts.
I signed up for an F2S account last october and only in march they removed the experimental tag from my server and moved it to the 24*7 monitoring thing they have.
Whenever they resume signups it mean they have got new servers and they test it until they are sure that the server is good and can handle the load. That may take months as in the above case.
You find out what server you are on by typing this command on the dos prompt
ping www.yourusernamehere.f2s.com

Why don't they just get the same serve they using so they know that it works fine.

Coz the old servers are already full. F2S moves on to a new server or servers when the old servers are already full. I would love to be on server 26....the best!

Must be some connection problem between your ISP and f2s.com. Try a traceroute and you will most probably know what's the problem and/or just wait for a few hours.

Since only some of us can connect to it, they're having a router problem. I'm near Seattle and I can connect just fine. There's gotta be a bad router somewhere so that maybe Europe or the east coast cannot access the service.

this F2S is the most recomended thing on this forum
does it have ads/pop ups?
does it have java servlets?
Hoth
June 19th, 2001, 17:47
F2S doesn't have any form of ads. Subdomain, 20 MB space, CGI, PHP4, 5MB MySQL or postgreSQL DB, FrontPage extensions, POP email, unlimited bandwidth. The only problem is that it's slow for people on the newer servers. I'm on server 28 (an old one), though, so I like it.

I'm not sure of what a 'router' is - just a server on the way?
I didn't know how to explain it to you, so i looked it up:
On the Internet, a router is a device or, in some cases, software in a computer, that determines the next network point to which a packet should be forwarded toward its destination. The router is connected to at least two networks and decides which way to send each information packet based on its current understanding of the state of the networks it is connected to. A router is located at any gateway (where one network meets another), including each Internet point-of-presence. A router is often included as part of a network switch.
A router may create or maintain a table of the available routes and their conditions and use this information along with distance and cost algorithms to determine the best route for a given packet. Typically, a packet may travel through a number of network points with routers before arriving at its destination. Routing is a function associated with the Network layer (layer 3) in the standard model of network programming, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model. A layer-3 switch is a switch that can perform routing functions.
An edge router is a router that interfaces with an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network. A brouter is a network bridge combined with a router.
