Personally I find it impossible that companies can offer unlimited transfer. Alot of the companies I've investigated that claim to have "unlimited transfer" have a bandwidth limit on the servers themselves. Most of these companies rely on their users not using much bandwidth.

The ISP's the host these companies servers do not actually have plans with unlimited data transfer, some have a 10mbit no limit connection, but if you transferred at 10mbit constantly thats still only 3600gb/month.

I do not trust these "Unlimited Transfer" providers at all, Tell me if you think there is actually a descent one out there.

A friend once told me it was possible to have unlimited space, since for every person he sets up on one server (what a waste) and then when they run out he connects it to another? im sure he was joking/lying though.

Both are impossible, a thread on another forum too had this addressed (I'll try and look it out) unlimited bandwidth is advertised by those renting 10MBS servers, still ain't unlimited but you have as much as you can squeeze through a 10meg card if the DC is up to it.

Unlimited space is a real cracker, it's possible if you have access to a full datacenter with expansion capabilities to add to your own NAS (Network Accessible Storage) devices.

So really a big lie. Even the major DC's would never think of advertising that, and if they can't you can be sure no host can.

If they really offered Unlimited Space and Bandwith I am sure google, yahoo, and amazon.com would host their sites with them.

phpwebhosting had something like that....unlimited transfer until 5GB used! :p

You can have unlimited transfer in the sense that you can keep using it without us stopping you, but we will meter it and charge you for the 95th percentile, ala much of how colo is done these days.

Lets send 250GB disk images to an unlimited space server... That's what I'm gonna do... They said they had unlimited space, so, they should be able to hold it...

Heres a file hosting service that claims to be giving unlimited bandwidth.
http://www.35mb.com/

Here's their view on it...
"You are free to use as much bandwidth as you like. AND WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO SO! Our service is extremely profitable for us as we get paid by our sponsors for every download so we want you to get as many downloads as possible. Bandwidth usage is of little concern to us. Our top users use over 50GB in downloads per day! We push over 10,000GB of data per month in free downloads!"

WARNING: Anyone who dares to download, beware of :bandit2: spyware/Adware :devious2: getting installed on your computer!
