givemeplain February 27th, 2005, 17:52 Hey,
I started http://www.90megs.com with a partner yesterday. We have around 7 servers secured for just this website to offer free and paid hosting. We have estimated and we can fit around 10,000 free accounts with our current plans, and around 5,000 - 7,000 medium sized accounts.
We are currently moving servers (should be done by tomorrow) so some accounts you make today may be lost. However, we don't expect to have any downtime and we own the domain and whatever.
What Free Users Get
- 90mb storage
- 9gb bandwith
- cpanel
- fantastico
- 5 mysql databases
- 10 email accounts (working on it)
- 1 mailing list
- ad-less
- banner-less
- popup-less
We are also looking to secure around 4 more domains for the site so people can choose a better subdomain than just '90megs.com'. You can currently use your own domain or get a subdomain from us for free (we don't have domain registration yet).
Since we have only been around a couple days expect updates later. We would really appreciate any info / comments you have on our service. The servers are pretty fast and should accomodate you!
-- Trial in topic title doesn't mean free acounts are limited timewise, just means we are trying out free hosting and we want user opinions and such =) Free hosting accounts should last forever --
FrozenPea February 27th, 2005, 19:04 Sounds good, but I just signed up and can find no mention of the nameservers to use anywhere on the site. Most of the support links seem to point at http://www.30mb.com/index2.htm ???
givemeplain February 27th, 2005, 19:10 Wish you signed up an hour ago lol, we are currently switching nameservers to a bigger dedicated server so the site will be down for around 10-24 hours. :cry2: .
FrozenPea February 27th, 2005, 19:14 Ok, i'll try again later tonight/tommorrow
givemeplain February 27th, 2005, 20:54 Alright the new server is back up.
apnakohat February 27th, 2005, 21:19 Seems Good
Wish u best of luck....
givemeplain February 27th, 2005, 21:24 There was a problem with the free hosting signup, just fixed. Hopefully won't happen again.
Thanks =)
magnum35 February 27th, 2005, 21:37 what are the new name servers for the free hosting?
givemeplain February 27th, 2005, 21:39 they are still propogating, might be why some subdomains dont work yet.
magnum35 February 27th, 2005, 21:43 i understand. what's the estimated time of when the name servers dns1 dns2 or whatever they are will be posted?
givemeplain February 27th, 2005, 21:46 Within 10 hours most likely, really depends on how long it takes for it to propogate.
magnum35 February 27th, 2005, 21:49 :) sounds good. so when a member will login to myaccount the dns servers will appear to the left? or do we have to sign up again ?
magnum35 February 27th, 2005, 21:54 oh, btw, what are the rules, for the free hosting ? has to be a certain amount of visitors per day? per week? per month? any catches? :) no offense but there are lots of free webhosts out there which stopped offering the free hosting or imposed strict rules for it and stuffs like that. from what i seen, i think you guys gonna go on the right path. i wish you all goodluck with your site.
pdrucker February 27th, 2005, 22:08 these are great plans, more than sufficient for a personal site, or even a small business
givemeplain February 27th, 2005, 22:08 You don't have to sign up again, when the dns servers are up then all the subdomains / accounts will work (they shouldn't now).
There aren't any restrictions other than the plan limits we posted and general TOS rules
- no pornography sites
- no hate crime / discrimination sites
- no illegal downloads / warez
that kind of stuff.
We don't do unique visitor meters / per day bandwith meters / that kind of thing. It's just like paid hosting .. only free.
magnum35 February 27th, 2005, 22:38 that's wonderful, what about,r there goin'to be lower/top banner/s or pop-ups?
givemeplain February 27th, 2005, 22:39 like I said there are no banners or pop ups on any pages ..
We might make it where only 404 error pages give a link back to our main site, but for now there are no ads on any part of our hosted sites.
QueenSerenity February 27th, 2005, 23:18 Where do I sign up on your website. I didn't see sign up order form
givemeplain February 27th, 2005, 23:21 http://www.90megs.com/users/order
we are planning a february 28th release as we are waiting for the domain to propogate, then we will be all good to go!
FrozenPea February 28th, 2005, 00:25 Can you at least tell us what address(es) the nameservers are going to be? because it also takes 24-48hrs for updates to our domain name's to propogate globally too.
OriginXT February 28th, 2005, 00:54 Nice service, but to look professional you have to correct the spelling and grammar errors.
Propagate, not propogate.
We're not were.
And so on... But the rest looks good...
How do you support yourself financially?
magnum35 February 28th, 2005, 12:38 hope u will have the hosting running today.. :)
magnum35 February 28th, 2005, 18:20 í'm just curious ;) is it a typo or that's the correct forum topic for 90mb space. you mention at the begining TRIAL :p
givemeplain February 28th, 2005, 19:51 Trial just means that we are testing out our services, we plan to make it free forever, it is not a trial for users, more like a trial for the administrators. Yes, its 90mb space and 9gb bandwith.
OriginXT February 28th, 2005, 20:07 I see. Then you are in a similar situation
magnum35 February 28th, 2005, 20:11 well, up to this point, everything sounds wonderful.
we just have to wait for the NS's and we will have the hosting. :)
exec_z February 28th, 2005, 21:20 sounds good.
givemeplain February 28th, 2005, 21:30 Hehe thanks =).
Doing a lot of site maintenance today while we wait for the domain to finish propogating. Seems like it's taking its sweet time, eh? :P.
Anyways hopefully the changes I make will make the site easier to maintain and navigate!
SDAnimeFan February 28th, 2005, 21:41 sounds like a nice offer
SDAnimeFan February 28th, 2005, 22:28 do you offer a certain amount of sub domains per account
givemeplain February 28th, 2005, 23:12 Can't really offer subdomains .. would be kind of weird..
yoursubdomain.youraccount.90megs.com
you are welcome to sign up for as many free accounts as you want though. We will be buying more domains in the future so people can have better names than 90megs.com :).
OriginXT February 28th, 2005, 23:46 I had told you, PROPAGATING! ><
FrozenPea March 1st, 2005, 05:36 I realise i am starting to sound impatient, but I have just registered my (same) account on 90megs.com for the third time... what's going on? I see there is now a support forum up and running on the site, but still no mention anywhere of the nameservers to use...
inkyubasu March 1st, 2005, 09:48 I signed up to this service some days ago but I still can't access my website... how much do you take on creating accounts? o.o
givemeplain March 1st, 2005, 09:49 Lol have you guys been reading my posts? I said the name servers have been propogating. YOu should not have to register a new account once they are done.
msn March 1st, 2005, 09:58 is your site okay now??
pdrucker March 1st, 2005, 10:07 lay off lol, im sure he'll tell us when theyre ready.
magnum35 March 1st, 2005, 11:59 untill they fully propagate, what's going to happen to the accounts that had been created? i heared that some dissapeared.
deeo March 1st, 2005, 12:27 subdomains for users using they own domains?
diM March 1st, 2005, 12:38 listen...to everyone who cant see there site? it is because it takes time for the subdomain to be setup..access your control panel here: http://www.90megs.com/cpanel
and login.
until the subdomain has been completed..or is rdy..access your site here. http://www.90megs.com/~username
givemeplain March 1st, 2005, 18:48 hehe thanks. All subdomains are ready and all accounts should work. You can also login to cpanel http://www.username.90megs.com/cpanel
Or, login through the site admin http://www.90megs.com/users/members

inkyubasu March 1st, 2005, 18:55 mine doesn't works.... T_T
magnum35 March 1st, 2005, 18:55 hehe thanks. All subdomains are ready and all accounts should work. You can also login to cpanel http://www.username.90megs.com/cpanel

hi. what happened to my accounts? i had two accounts and now they dissapeared. when i try to login it brings me back to the login page.
SDAnimeFan March 1st, 2005, 18:59 Well I joined up so far everything is working
OriginXT March 1st, 2005, 19:08 o__o I SAID PROPAGATING
givemeplain March 1st, 2005, 19:13 We went through some accounts and deleted testing ones. We might have deleted your account by accident. We also delete accounts that do not use valid email addresses (for security purposes)
IE: 28941jdjhdfhsjdf@fdouhgofdsg.com
Please use your real email address, we won't disclose it to third parties or anything.
Also, all accounts from now on should work or you may register a new account, we have no limit on the amount of accounts you can have (as long as they are legal).
inkyubasu March 1st, 2005, 19:17 miy account wasn't erased... it's just that the subdomain doesn't exists (http://www.garnet.90megs.com/) but I can log in... check my information, etc...
givemeplain March 1st, 2005, 19:26 Deleted your account, please register a new one at
http://www.90megs.com/users/order
Very sorry for the inconvenience, we are new at this!
inkyubasu March 1st, 2005, 19:29 weeee! now it works!!! thank you so much ^^!!!!!
EDIT: No... it doesn't work again T_T... it was just temporary
givemeplain March 1st, 2005, 20:46 The domain might take longer to work in some areas than others. Thus, you can use
http://www.90megs.com/cpanel to access your cpanel
and http://www.90megs.com/~username
SDAnimeFan March 1st, 2005, 22:10 So Far everything is working just fine.
Thanks givemeplain :-)
givemeplain March 1st, 2005, 22:21 No Problem, glad to hear it works =).
admans March 2nd, 2005, 09:31 u guys being new are gud...thanx fer da free acc!
givemeplain March 2nd, 2005, 09:51 No problem, hope you enjoy it =).
myextrahelp March 2nd, 2005, 10:16 Hi givemeplain,
I saw that you are only 15, but I must say, you have answered every question promptly, politely, and professionally. That is the true test of maturity. I just signed up for an account (I am transferring one of my sites from a host that may be older, but isn't as respectful of his "free" clients). Good luck, and congratulations on a job well done!
Matrixnyc March 2nd, 2005, 15:32 nice design :)
FrozenPea March 2nd, 2005, 16:48 No problem, hope you enjoy it =).
I certainly am! Awesome speeds in both directions which is a big improvement over my old host!!
One question i do have is whether you will eventually allow us to create subdomains under own 'domain-name' accounts? Would be excellent if you did :classic2:
Thanks again.
SDAnimeFan March 2nd, 2005, 16:49 problem fixed
scouse March 2nd, 2005, 18:07 Dude i just want to say thanx for the service, very cool great set up no problems what so ever..High praises..Thanx again mate..
gary7 March 2nd, 2005, 18:19 I'm just curious about if I can start from a subdomain and, later maybe I could use a domain name? Well, what is your response to that question Givemeplain? I haven't had a lot of luck with hosts lately. Shyper.com dumped all of their free accounts. 5gigs.com has shut down. Xplosive.com went belly up. Freeserver.com is gone. Galaxy.co.uk has shut down their free accounts. webspace.com advertised a non-existant mysql database. It's not like my website needed one at the time. My php code coughed up an odd error code with them despite the fact the code works fine for six months with other websites. Their free webspace ads still claims that they place no ads on your site while they put text link ads over their users' each and, every webpages.
givemeplain March 2nd, 2005, 18:53 We will never put ads on any webpages, and we plan on being around for a long while.
Regarding switching from a subdomain to domain, we would probably have a small fee (a couple dollars to do that) as we have to do it ourselves, it isn't automated. You can signup with an existing domain at no extra cost, just switching it would cost a little. Or, you can simply just make a new user account at the site for your domain name =).
Thanks for all the positive feedback!
gary7 March 2nd, 2005, 21:03 I just spent 30 minutes on my last post just to have some local white haired middle age over the hill mentally retarded moron IT person lose it to oblivion.
It wasn't even about the local grey white haired middle aged over the hill mentally retarded moron IT person in charge of local internet connections in the first place. It was about how I liked this one company despite their fibs about what they offered and, hosting domain names with Cpanel.
givemeplain March 2nd, 2005, 21:15 Lol, not sure I understand the post you just posted.
admans March 3rd, 2005, 10:55 gud hosting provided ...thanx man!!
Matrixnyc March 3rd, 2005, 15:12 I agree :) excellent hosting and customer support :)
gary7 March 3rd, 2005, 17:33 It's call venting in America. I was just minding my own business when they blocked my access to this website with a "SERVER NOT FOUND." error when I tried to submit my last post about the free hosting companies that I dealt with before. They did it again. I just tried to post. You could complain to the ip company. My ip is 198.245.131.5x.
gary7 March 3rd, 2005, 22:59 I was trying to say in the first place that webspace.com's control panel allowed me to start with a subdomain first. Months later I added a domain name. Can C-panel do that? Sorry, about the earlier post. I've had a rough week. Some idiot stole my clothes from the condo laundry room apparently thinking a PVC coat was actually a leather coat. LOL. It's a coat that only an East Euro would love or, a really dumb pot smoking liberal who drives a blue Postal van. Sorry about things this place is closing in a few minutes. Bye
SDAnimeFan March 4th, 2005, 02:17 All I have to say is Great Hosting :-)
novartis_pro March 4th, 2005, 09:18 Hey,
I started http://www.90megs.com with a partner yesterday.

:tired2:
Robert March 4th, 2005, 10:58 It's call venting in America. This website is not blocking your access to the forums. I'm not sure what you are talking about. Your previous post, which was removed, has been added back.
novartis_pro March 4th, 2005, 11:21 dammit its down :(..i hope it will be up soon..if not ill just move to http://www.rydle.com
also seems to be has big problems
.................................. try
diM March 4th, 2005, 11:34 yes i see...90megs.com is back up :D wooohoo
givemeplain March 4th, 2005, 13:33 Hehe, sorry about that. It hasn't been down for long amounts of time =). I think that my partner decided we will begin to charge 1$ per year for the 'free' service now. We had almost 500 hack attempts on the server in the past 3 DAYS, as well as 500 invalid accounts, and at least 10 accounts spamming email messages through our hosting service. We are sorry to have to do this, but 1$ a year isn't really anything, considering paypal takes like 35 cents of it ;). We might change this rule if we can find a way to stop hackers, spammers, and invalid accounts from being created so often!
givemeplain March 4th, 2005, 14:05 edit: We will taking away this rule in a couple days, once we have email verification up and extra security measures =).
OriginXT March 4th, 2005, 14:18 How about 1 penny just to sign up? lol
ademonicbaby March 4th, 2005, 14:33 Well, the free account's that werent hacked and all, your still going to host them?
givemeplain March 4th, 2005, 18:17 No accounts were hacked, but there were hack attempts on the server which were not sucessful. We added the 1$ paypal verification so we know who is signing up for the accounts. This is to ensure a secure server for your sites. Even though the accounts are free, we give them the same support and attention as our paid account hosts. However, we are instituting a new and free verification system for signups. All free accounts will always be hosted, so don't worry.
Our true goal is for members that are using free accounts to upgrade to premium accounts if they have the money (it's not that expensive). However, we realize that not all people have access to online money. We will always have free and paid hosting options.
SDAnimeFan March 4th, 2005, 18:30 Those of us that already have accounts up do we have to pay this 1$
givemeplain March 4th, 2005, 18:40 no you don't.
ineedhost March 4th, 2005, 21:46 Cool server! Thanks!
Gamerx100 March 5th, 2005, 06:39 It cost 1$
magnum35 March 5th, 2005, 17:39 so if i sign up now i have to paypal for $1 now?
gary7 March 5th, 2005, 18:31 Is it possible to add a domain name at a later time after getting a subdomain with the Cpanel host? That is my original question which I still wonder about through it all.
Thanks, Gary7
givemeplain March 5th, 2005, 19:24 Yes, we can do that.
diM March 7th, 2005, 16:36 good idea..but unfortuantely the server is down again :(
SDAnimeFan March 7th, 2005, 18:15 Alright whats going on is the server down :(
givemeplain March 7th, 2005, 20:26 We are working on even more security measures .. as hackers keep trying to create massive ammounts of fake accounts / get access to server. We are upgrading all sorts of things to prevent this. Sorry for all the down time..
SDAnimeFan March 7th, 2005, 21:14 Thats alright I was just wondering making sure you didn't disappear on us :-)
diM March 8th, 2005, 00:38 ya good to hear!
diM March 8th, 2005, 00:46 will we lose any of our stuff? btw your hosting kicks sum butt!..im avin so much fun wid it :D best hosting i had in a while
Skribblez March 8th, 2005, 04:59 hmm its down i can't access the website :(
diM March 8th, 2005, 11:59 its back up..and it seems that givemeaplain has added email verification! good job!
FrozenPea March 8th, 2005, 16:07 its back up..and it seems that givemeaplain has added email verification! good job!
offline again now :p
Special Forces March 8th, 2005, 18:01 Yeah It doesn't seem all that reliable.
Also I had a problem getting an account today it says there was a problem creating my account, I tried twice.
Matrixnyc March 8th, 2005, 20:17 maybe you didnt validate your email address :)
You need to enter a code for your account to be created.
givemeplain March 8th, 2005, 21:32 Yea you need a valid email address.
And how are we not reliable? We've only existed for the past 6 days and we said in the topic title this is a "trial" and we just want to see how things will be running. I admit we weren't prepared for over 600 hack attempts on the server, people abusing the free email service, and mass creation of fake accounts. However, we have adapated to the situation, added extra signup security measures, and have added extra security to the server itself.
If this host isn't good enough for you, then go find another one. K, Thnx.
scouse March 9th, 2005, 13:47 Dude do what you have to do, i for one appreciate all you you are doing to make everything as safe for yourselves aswell as for us..I cannot complain, i am getting free service, and downtime as it seems is through no fault of your own..So thanx again for the good free account..
SDAnimeFan March 9th, 2005, 17:04 Keep up the great work there.
I am glad to see your taking time to secure things
And am enjoying your free service tremendously
Thank you
:-)
givemeplain March 9th, 2005, 20:49 Thanks for understanding and all the great feedback :).
HAL-9000 March 10th, 2005, 17:05 On step 2, I continuously get a There was a problem creating your account, please try again
error.
hybridbomber March 10th, 2005, 18:28 oN STEP 2 iT ALWAYS GIVES ME THIS ERROR...
Error : That domain name is already taken, please choose another.
I have my own existing domain and I chose existing domain in step one.... Then why does it not let me create an account? Please help. Yes I own the domain name and it is taken By me.
Apocalypze March 10th, 2005, 21:37 I have an account and my site is in the process of being built. Excellent host! Great service you have here. Although the downtime has taken some building time away, I appreciate you taking the time to secure your servers for your customers as well as yourselves. Thanks for a great host!
FrozenPea March 11th, 2005, 01:38 oN STEP 2 iT ALWAYS GIVES ME THIS ERROR...
I have my own existing domain and I chose existing domain in step one.... Then why does it not let me create an account? Please help. Yes I own the domain name and it is taken By me.
Perhaps it means someone else has already registered with 90Megs.com to host the <whatever>.com domain.. despite the fact that you are the registered owner of the name.
hybridbomber March 11th, 2005, 05:36 givemeplain,
Could you please tell me a way out of this, If it is already booked in your database it might be because I typed some invalid characters in my password and it gave me an error.
If so... can you please delete that account and let me create a new one.
No one else wants to host my domain.... Its my personal site. Thats devarshy.com
And I want to host my site with you.
Thanks.
givemeplain March 11th, 2005, 17:28 Hey,
We will look into this and delete any account that is using devarshy.com so you can create it. However, we have just made some security changes and it might have messed up some site settings .. meaning we have to fix registration.
Thanks
hybridbomber March 11th, 2005, 18:17 Thanks a lot.
I will try to register again after a few hours... I apparently gives me the same error right now.
Thanks for the consideration.
hybridbomber March 12th, 2005, 08:40 Well, I guess after so many hours It still does seem to give me the same error.... and I think you re still fixing the registration problem.
I'd appreciate if you postv here when everythinh is alright.
I'd like to host my site with you.
Thanks
SDAnimeFan March 12th, 2005, 20:53 :( hey givemeplain whats going on the last day or so my domain redirects to the 90megs.com page :(
diM March 13th, 2005, 06:21 ya...grrrr :(
givemeaplan, i have an idea which will make ur site better. Make a news page and say what your doing..im sure paid users and free users will rlly apreaciate whats goin on ;)
diM March 13th, 2005, 09:51 guess what guys..my site works :D..BUT the subdomain has been changed from komitz.90megs.com to komitzclan.90megs.com!!!! and it works! just fine! maybe everyones subdomains have been changed ??
SDAnimeFan March 13th, 2005, 14:53 Cool every thing is working again :-)
hybridbomber March 13th, 2005, 16:39 Wel,
Maybe its all working for you peple,
nOt for me.... I still cant register.
It still tells me error: the domain name is already taken....on step 2. I guess I'll look elsewhere.... These are just tall promises.
givemeplain March 13th, 2005, 17:07 Yea ..
As I posted in the support forums for the site signups are going to be down for a day or two. Sorry I don't check this post a lot :(. It's not 'tall' promises we have over 2500 people using our free hosting now .. if you can't wait a day or two for signups to be active find another host :).
givemeplain March 13th, 2005, 21:28 Update:
New signup page 95% complete. It is a lot more complete and a lot easier to navigate. Should take a lot less time to create an account as well, there is also no email validation this time.
There is a fancier and new admin panel for all users once your account has been created, and easy management of multiple accounts under one username. All features should be working very very soon.
We are also proud to announce that 90megs.com hosting is no longer automated. This is for security reasons, but don't worry, we still accept all accounts that do not violate our terms of service. All accounts will be activated within 24 hours, usually less :).
I'll post back here when it is fully up.

SV_Ngheo April 14th, 2005, 07:07 Server is fixed ! I think it will back soon !
Andrej April 14th, 2005, 12:09 Wow :eek2: , actually I've found the best free webhosting ever!!!
I'd be a lucky man to place my website there.
Firstly, I've some questions:
- What languages are allowed at 90megs.com?
(I'd like to kick off my website in English, Spanish and Slovak)
- Is the 10GB Transfer limited roughly to a month? Isn't it divided eg. 333MB per day?
- When more subdomains will be available?
Again, thanks a lot for such a great service all for free!!!
All the best wishes for your future webhosting! :-)
givemeplain April 15th, 2005, 11:13 There is no limit to what languages you can use, all languages are allowed.
The 10GB transfer is not limited per month, but if we see you jump from 1gb a month to 9gb in one day we will investigate it to see if something is screwy. (Like illegal mp3s for download on your site).
Subdomains are available for our 1$ / year hosting plan and our 25 posts (one time) on our forums plan.
http://www.90megs.com/hosting.php for more info.
Andrej April 15th, 2005, 14:42 Subdomains are available for our 1$ / year hosting plan and our 25 posts (one time) on our forums plan.
But your website says you can use the 90megs.com subdomain for free.
Matrixnyc April 27th, 2005, 21:48 yes, i think they have free and paid plans :) I have a free one
Andrej May 4th, 2005, 16:09 Hi guys, anyone using 90megs.com?
What's its uptime?
Does it still work?
-Andrej
dee emm May 4th, 2005, 16:29 http://90megs.com works great. Almost zero down time, and it is usually relatively fast (once in awhile it seems to get slow). I run two sites with them
http://research.90megs.com/blogmax and
http://research.90megs.com/
Andrej May 4th, 2005, 16:36 dee emm, thanks for your answer and:
Is it possible to create as many accounts as I wish or only one?
Are the subdomains they offer (*.90megs.com) free?
Is a registration of my own domain free too?
Thanks,
dee emm May 4th, 2005, 18:47 My chosen subdomain was free when I signed up, and their cover page says they accept domain transfers.
frances May 6th, 2005, 06:53 this is good, i shall try it out
Andrej May 6th, 2005, 10:07 It's not possible to register there. I couldn't register.
dee emm May 6th, 2005, 12:22 I don't know why you can't register. (They have to approve your application and then send you an email. That takes 1-3 days.)
Just go to http://90megs.com/ and click on the "order now" spot in the "simply free plan" box. That will tke you to this page:

Andrej May 6th, 2005, 14:49 Thank you for your explanation. Now I know how to register my domain with the free hosting plan. :-)
The problem was I didn't saw the selection Pricing for free_host and didn't know I must select to pay yearly. There is another text above one.
You say I won't be billed. However when registering I'm requested to provide with my credit card information. Why?
Andrej May 6th, 2005, 15:24 Seems like it's not necessary to fill in my credit card information as I haven't done so and already have received e-mail saying that my request will be accepted in the next 24 hours.
:-)
Matrixnyc May 6th, 2005, 21:44 you dont have to pay or give a credit card :)
Just follow the instructions on the sign up page and you will get the hosting :)
Andrej May 8th, 2005, 08:02 I registered on Friday but I still haven't received the e-mail with my account information. Does anyone know why?
(I also signed up for an account at the thefreshforum.com as they require it.)
Matrixnyc May 10th, 2005, 21:11 you should check their support pages:
http://www.90megs.com/support
and submit a ticket there or see if the support people are online.
Good Luck.
Andrej May 11th, 2005, 16:19 Seems like they're not online. I already sent them two questions few days ago and still haven't received any reply.

Matrixnyc June 9th, 2005, 23:17 are you sure you put in your right info when you signed up? I know they are very strict about who they accept. I took me a couple tries until the account was accepted and created for me.
sese June 10th, 2005, 04:19 You need to choose a payment cycle that is available for that hosting plan, press the back button here
but i choose that
Matrixnyc June 10th, 2005, 10:18 on the www.90megs.com site there is detailed info on how to sign up at this page:

givemeplain June 10th, 2005, 10:34 I think halo2 has some rage he has to let out :).
90Megs.com is back in the swing of things for accepting accounts, accepted / fixed over 400 accounts last night.
dee emm June 10th, 2005, 13:23 I thought it said that between the 2 or 3 owners, they had all together 30 years experience. If there are 3 of them that's just 10 years a piece. If one of them is older and has 20 years experience, then the younger ones might have 5 a piece, which is reasonable.
90megs.com has done fine by me, and I hope they are around for a few decades.
Matrixnyc June 11th, 2005, 03:47 I agree www.90megs.com has been great for over 3 months for me.
Thank you 90megs.com :)
givemeplain June 12th, 2005, 01:31 Yea the site is managed by more than one person ;). We also have some special technicians come in everyonce in a while and help out with stuff. You'd be hard pressed to find a host that gives the kind of bandwith / space that we do that has NOT gone down less than us :-).

Matrixnyc June 13th, 2005, 10:01 did you get the email from them to login to the client backend? You can check your status of the account from there. If you didnt that means you didnt fill out something anf they removed/deleted your request. You might need to try again.
givemeplain June 15th, 2005, 13:11 http://www.thefreshforum.com has gone through some revamping as well now.
Matrixnyc June 17th, 2005, 18:27 Looking good :) keep up the great work.
Matrixnyc September 16th, 2005, 14:41 90megs.com are back up and accepting sign ups :) yipee
tc17 September 17th, 2005, 13:42 > 90megs.com are back up and accepting sign ups
... after having dumped numerous previous site without any sort of notification
fskof September 17th, 2005, 17:42 They also drastically changed the features available without any notice. No more POP accounts, only one MySQL DB, no more access logs or stats, no more cron jobs... There's a long list of missing features.
Matrixnyc September 19th, 2005, 10:41 True, I always backup my info :) The account features have changed, but you still get 90mb and 10gb transfer mysql, ftp.
I use another free mail account for email and web stats from another site.
RandomPrecision September 20th, 2005, 23:47 Hmm...I made my first 90megs site earlier today, largely because I'm sick of 150m.com, and thought about moving my site(s) from there to avoid the ads that completely destroy my website on slower computers, and I can't help but notice that lately, every major search engine is programmed to avoid 150m.com sites because they perceive a security threat in the fact that 404 errors go back to the main site, and I can't customize enough of my site to allow search engine spiders anyway.
But while this site seems great, I tried to use my first account to host .jpg webcam images that I frequently replaced (I was experimenting with anaglyphs, my targets could be seen in perspective with comic book red/cyan glasses).
Now, I don't know if I've been IP blocked for rapidly uploading files, if the server is just down, or if it's merely something on my computer, but I can't get into my website at all - nor can I access the main 90megs site, or the support page, or in fact, any site from 90megs.com. If anyone knows what's up and could help me here, I would greatly appreciate it, because I'd like to migrate my main website from 150m.com. I'm not interested in maintaining the webcam, if that caused the problem.
I've heard that other people can still see my site. I apparently still have the same picture of my forehead there.
Matrixnyc September 21st, 2005, 14:27 the site is up for me, what error are you getting?
RandomPrecision September 21st, 2005, 21:25 the site is up for me, what error are you getting?
"The connection was refused when attempting to contact 90megs.com."
Still can't get in.
Matrixnyc September 22nd, 2005, 11:39 try from another computer, it seems you or your isp blocked it.
Check what you have in your host file on your computer.
hottweelz September 22nd, 2005, 11:41 "The connection was refused when attempting to contact 90megs.com."
Still can't get in.
That error is NOT an ISP Blocking a site. That error is a server running too hard.
RandomPrecision September 22nd, 2005, 23:11 That error is NOT an ISP Blocking a site. That error is a server running too hard.
Like in my first post, I said that other people can apparently get in and see my last jpg from the webcam.
I, however, can't get in, even if just to remove it.
Matrixnyc September 25th, 2005, 20:50 Never knew a server can run hard :)
I have gotten this error with a few sites.
I just went into the host file on my computer and made sure some spyware was not changing this file.
You can go in there and delete what is in there and save it and see if the browser works then.
Also try a different version or browser all together. good luck
RandomPrecision September 26th, 2005, 13:34 Hmm, I knew I didn't have any spyware, but I just tried it today, and it works again. I'll just confusedly accept it for the time being, I suppose (although your advice may have been correct, because I think I cleared my cache somewhere in between).
Thanks. :-)
Matrixnyc September 30th, 2005, 12:46 :) atleast you got it to work :)
That is all that matters
S.Clause October 9th, 2005, 06:15 > 90megs.com are back up and accepting sign ups

Yeah, my site was suddenly gone too. Givemeplain, did you keep ANY backup of those site that were deleted?
Matrixnyc October 10th, 2005, 15:41 http://www.90megs.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=39
that might give you more info on the sites.
Matrixnyc October 17th, 2005, 21:55 Givemeplain, can you check my account.
I posted a support question in the forum and am waiting for an answer.
Thanks :)
Matrixnyc October 18th, 2005, 15:53 what do you mean that they dont have a mail server? how do they get email?
givemeplain October 18th, 2005, 22:28 Obviously have a mail server if you have to respond to a validation email to finish creating your account.
Nice try though. :shame:
Matrixnyc October 20th, 2005, 00:04 hey. thanks for answering my post :)
