Bozley05, Those high school dances are certainly different from the ones portrayed by John R. Powers in Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? -- the joke is that the Nuns used to tell the girls not to wear black leather patent shoes to the high school dances :smiley2:
It's a really funny book told from a boy's perspective about growing up in Chicago in the early 1960s and attending an all-male Catholic high school. I laughed out loud when I read the book years ago. You can read a description of the book at amazon.com:
