Does anyone know what happens to Chromehost? I use their free hosting service and it has been down for a long time.
It's still down.

ChromeHost.com got shut down, looks like for good.
They didn't pay for their servers and doesn't look like they are going to.

You seem to be enjoying yourself at others' expense

To me, it is just the passing of a web host that did not make the cut. In my opinion, it is such short-lived free web host who actually bring down the good name of free web hosting. There are just too many free web hosts who are giving ridiculous web hosting for free and only realise afterward that they won't be able to carry on for another month.

This is a perfect example of what we have been talking about in the cPanel thread this whole time. I do not understand why people are not taking the hint.

Agreed. When we started providing free hosting nearly 9 years ago, we learned
very early on ,and the hard way, that to survive you must have population controls ...
Your growth of customers cannot outpace the growth of your resources
or you are absolutely doomed to certain failure!
These hosts that come on promising the world that don't put in any hoops for
people to jump through to get hosting suddenly find themselves in a place
beyond what they can handle and quickly fall apart.
This incidentaly is the very reason we first created the concept of "posting for hosting"
back in a time when such a thing was totally unheard of. The real purpose of
requiring people to post was simply to slow down the hosting applications so our
network expansion could keep pace while simultaneously filtering out those who
weren't serious about hosting.
Today we offer 1 account without posting but we now have the resources to
be able to handle that and still have other controls in place even on that account
such as requiring an ISP email contact for subdomain accounts, etc.
On the flipside of this coin, those who come on here saying "I don't want to post"
or do anything for hosting really have nothing to complain about when they find
their host running slower than a snail, offline, or totally out of business. I myself
personally would do just the opposite and probably demand that a host have
such measures in place because I would know that that host's services are
probably much more reliable.
I seriously worry about all these inexperienced newbie hosts popping up ...

Well...if u really don't have to offer free host with posting...the best u can do is not to oversell too much...free web host tend to oversell so much when it finally reach the limit...the panic button is pressed...

Funny you should mention that, xd3vilx ...
I gave a very detailed lecture about that very topic in another thread
here at freewebspace.net earlier this morning! :wink2:
