How do you make a secure page like https:// ?

Put the page(s) in a folder called "https" instead of public_html?

Indeed not. In order to use https you must install a certificate that says who you are. If you are the admin of the box or own the ip your site is running off then you can do this. If not, you will have to talk to your admin.

There are also 2 types of certs. 1 is self generated and is free, the second usually costs $37/yr and is verified by a third party. Which you use is up to you.

I run my own dedicated servers and use SSL (https) for quite a bit.

Is it possible to use ssl for shared hosting even if the host does not provide ssl?

Is it possible to use ssl for shared hosting even if the host does not provide ssl? I have one free domanin hosting account. In my account's Cpanel, I see SSL manager. Can I do anything to get secure pages using SSL manager in Cpanel?

You can always try as it never hurts, but from experience i use to have before I bought my dedi, was that if you were on a shared ip, it wouldnt let you.
