I just hope they keep the original song in there somewhere... Dwayne (Duane?) seems to be appearing in a lot of films recently... question is, will this be overall good or bad for his career?
I don't think it's shopped...

Seriously...worst actor ever. Anyone see Walking Tall? :p
I heard he was rumoured to play the role of Johnny Bravo in a movie, which blew my ----ing mind.

walking tall was the biggest piece of crap to hit the silverscreen -- however, the ownage factor with that piece of wood kinda makes up for it.

I too must see Be Cool. Elmore Leonard is my favourite author and I think I've seen every film based on one of his books, except for this one.
Making the movie seem even more awesome is the fact that The Rock plays a gay bodyguard. You can't go wrong

that's true...he does look pretty good in that, plus the cast itself is pretty -----in'. Plus, it's the sequel to Get Shorty, how could you go wrong?

Pick up the book if you ever get a chance. It's awesome.

I intend to.
Also, I know it's the sequel to get Shorty, but given the cast, one has to wonder how this isn't the sequel to Pulp Fiction :p

I like the Rock. He works out at the gym next to my house. He's a cool cat.

That is the BEST movie. Seriously. That and Half-Baked, and Scarface, and Goodfellas. Those movies could keep me entertained for a lifetime.

Damn Floridans and their celebrities. We get nothing up here but Sam Roberts and hockey players.

You should be more like Australia. Anyone who has spent more than a year here is Australian... We love claiming people as our own, it's kind of like that land rule.. If you stay on it for ceratin amount of time, it's legally yours.

Could i interest you in Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne, Bryan Adams, Sum 41, and Nickelback?
If we're giving away and you're taking, this seems like a fine partnership.

I'd like to ad Fefe Dobson and Robin Black to Blank's list.
Actually, I'd like to add Much Music's top 40 to Blank's list.
except DFA1979 and Alexisonfire. We'll keep them.

Yeah.. on Be Cool - the film sucks. The book is just so much better on many levels. Plus, Christina Millian? No thank you.

So should I not bother with the movie? I'd hate to have it spoil my perception of the book.

No don't bother. Seriously, you'd think with the actors it has (Travolta, Thurman, DeVito blahblah) it'd be kinda decent but then you get Andre 3000, Christina Millan and The Rock who to be honest, can't act to save thier lives.. maybe they are just there for the fact of having celebrities in the film. Maybe it'd need a couple more watches from me but first watch - it just came across as boring and unfunny.
It might be a bit different for yourself though. Looking around forums (SomethingAwful, IMDB etc) the feel I get is that it's like Napolean Dynamite - there's people that love it, people that hate it, people who love it because everyone does.
Overall I'd give it 2.5/5
Hope this helped.
Oh and if you want excess product placements - this is the film to see :D

Well, I trust your judgement.
It kind of saddens me.
Other movies based on Elmore Leonard's books (Get Shorty, Touch, The Big Bounce, Jackie Brown (Rum Punch), 52 Pickup, etc) have all been very entertaining. Sure, nothing exactly worthy of a big award, but greatly entertaining.
I think I'll skip Be Cool until it comes out on DVD. Thanks for the heads up.

Well...I'm not much of an Alexisonfire fan myself, so I'll add them to the list, but DFA1979 hauls ---.
