How to transfer a domain?

Hi all!

Could anyone advise me how to transfer a domain and how does it work?
I wonder what happens when you have a domain registered and then you transfer it to another webhosting provider? Is the former domain cancelled then?

I think about this as I can't find a good free webhosting provider & a free domain provider in one. I'd like to combine some 2 providers in order to create a good website.

Just go to your domain registrar and change the nameserver to point to the new web host.
The domain doesn't change, and is not cancelled. The only thing that changes is the IP address of the server the domain points to.
