I have like 5 different remote controls that I need to use my TV, TiVO, DVD Player & Stereo and it's getting annoying. To watch a DVD, I have to use my TV Remote and DVD Remote. To watch TV, I have to use my TiVO remote.

So I went ahead and bought this Logitech Harmony 680 All-In-One.

I've heard great reviews about it. Anyone else use it?

How do you guys manage multiple remote controls?

Well, I have two TVs, one has a VCR player, and one has a DVD player. The remotes are in different rooms, so I don't have any problems :p

As for a stereo...I have my white MDR-EX71SLs, so I just plug em in :biggrin2:

I wouldn't personally pay that much for a remote. I'm sure it's awesome, but it seems a bit extreme to me. The cheaper ones in my experience have worked fine. Then again, I don't have TiVo, but everything else is supported.

I have 5 remotes at home in total.

1 for living room TV
1 for DVD (was used ~4 times in 2 years)
1 for living room receiver/cd (never used)
1 for pc tv-tuner (never used)
1 for small 11' portable sony tv (rarely used)

so it comes down to 1 remote heh

I use my PDA. The HP 3115 comes with a program called Nevo that controls all equipment. It rocks.

I think there's about ~15 remotes in our house, and we manage just fine. We have a programmable universal remote for the amp in our sound system, which controls 2 dvd players, 2 tv's, the amp, cable decoder (legal, tv's here don't come cable ready) and probably other stuff. we also keep the original remotes on hand, just in case we can't find the universal remote.

i'd go into more detail about our remotes, but i don't think you people want to know about it >.>

I have a few remotes... I don't mind using them though. It's never bothered me enough to get a nice universal one anyway.

Yea. All the ceiling fans in our house are remote controlled. The remote adapter is like $20 bucks more and requires an add'tl 5 minutes of installation. it's the best (and laziest) way to go. I hate being in bed and wanting to turn the fan off and having to get up and pull the string 3-4 times.

4 x TV
2 x DVD
2 x Stereo
1 x PS2
1 x Digital Set Top Box
1 x VCR

I think having all those controls is a good thing, coz it improves your organisation and searching skills.. and you can make a game out of "Where's the bloody remote?"

Making life more simple and better cost more money. For me, using below 10 remotes is just fine for me.

the best part about my remotes is that 5 rooms in this house has its own set of remotes, and one can always expect my brother (1 year old) to rearrange the placement of those remotes into other rooms, and occaisionally the toilet :(

We like to refer to them as "Cleaning Ladies". If I ever called Maria, a Maid, she's probaby beat me up. She already hates me.

I was only talking abou my bedroom remote controls. I could careless if my parents have issues with the amount of remotes lol. It's such a pain having so many. I wish they could make it all voice activated. "TV ON", "Channel 3", "Volume down", "Mute", "TV Off".

It's not supposed to be, maybe slave is the wrong word, infact it is... But tell me if you can afford someone to do your household work, you wouldn't employ them?

We have one, we call her the cleaning lady, but mostely we call her by her name. I call her something else, but that's just because she hates me. She's evil.

it's a good thing really, it provides jobs in developing countries or for people from developing countries - giving them jobs no one else wants to do.. look at walmart in the states

[edit]

its cheaper to let them live with you and you provide meals etc... as opposed to them wanting money to pay for rent outside and such..

walmart is closing a store here in quebec because the employees succesfully got syndicated a few months ago.

And now employees from another one voted at 75% for their syndicalisation.
Walmart hates Quebec heh

Btw, how much do you people pay those maids of yours if you dont mind me asking

My parents pay her $75 a day. She only comes 3 times a week and stays about 8 hrs each day.
