Domain transferred?

Hello guys,

How does it work when you use a domain name at other webhosting provider?

When you type the URL address of the domain, then will it be automatically transferred to the webhosting provider?

I mean whether the visitors will be able to see (link in the IExplorer browser) who really is my webhosting provider?

eg.:
1) I register a subdomain myname.8m.com at a free webhosting provider
2) I'll register at another free webhosting provider a free webhosting package using my own subdomain already registered

In case the server of 8m.com, where I've registered my domain is off (but the server where I've registered my website is would be still on), when someone goes to my website at the same time, my domain won't be available?

I consider doing this with my website. However I'd like to ask someone here who has the same experience whether it's reliable and advantageos.
