Hi there I'll see what I can calculate for you - can you pay a setup fee or would it have to be free setup, as sometimes it can bring the cost down.

I would pay a $100 setup fee or something like that if it droped the monthly price.

I might well have a Dual XEON, 1Gb, 160Gb. With a setup fee, one catch - 3 months advanced payment would be required.

Would that be any use to you?

How much would it be? Setup & Monthly.

Decker
April 19th, 2005, 14:34
Hi, it would be, Setup - $105, Monthly $230, so just over 5 months would pay the setup and twice the disk space with 2000Gb transfer.

No problem, depending on current costs we might be able to trim a little (or it may have to go up - market values and all the stuff that goes with it) but for a dual XEON with a Gig of RAM it's tricky to cut much further, the setup is mainly to mod a standard server for a custom spec in case you wondered.

Best of luck.

Hey Decker,
I see from your profile you are located in Edinburgh.
I am looking for colo space and would like the servers near to my home (Dundee) but anywhere in Scotland would be perfect.
Do you run a datacentre in Edinburgh? I've checked a few in Scotland but the costs are unbelievable. It's only for a couple of servers at the moment.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.
Cheers

It definately going to cost you a lot,

Infact anywhere outside USA costs a lot with some exceptions offcourse.
Decker has his Servers in Georgia (Atlanta) himself.

So if you are planning to do Colo. , be prepared to pay high bandwidth prices. I would suggest you to get a Dedicated Server in USA which will definately cost you a lot less.

In fact TalkHost if you pop over to http://www.-------------.com (http://www.-------------.com/) there are a few that can help with colo in the UK.
Not sure if any in Scotland though, but some do have colo contracts with UK DC's. Good bunch of folks too :) just like FWS.

Picking the other half up in Dundee (Lochee) tommorow, did her back while visiting her mum, sheesh women LOL.

EDIT - Oh Oh, rival forum I guess :eek2:

Never heard of any DC up north but...

Coreix is about the best UK datacentre, from experience. (based in Stratford, London)

Another good one is UKSolutions located near Birmingham, Warwickshire prices are a little
more expensive than Coreix.

If I had to choose one in the UK I would choose Coreix.

Give them a call for a price, Coreix.net, Uksolutions.co.uk

There are a few - but face it in the UK we get screwed!

Yeah much cheaper to pay monthly in the UK for rented, co-lo is indeed very expensive

The telco's charge per mile on traffic for large bandwidth lines on their fibres which is bloody rediculous. Why not just for usage... Oh that's right Greed.
