What is the best free code for a "search this site" that a webmaster can use on his/her site and/or blog?

I was interested in code for a "Google search this site" but there were some complications such as the need to register for a key or something like that.

Is there a free site search code that will search an entire domain/site?
Is the code relatively easy to use?

Suggestions please -- thanks in advance.

No one has any suggestions?
Should I have phrased the question differently?

i have 3 solutions for you:

1) use a web search component that comes with ms frontpage (sucks! but is easy to do)

2) use google site search code (copying and pasting html code and changing a few values, no api key needed as such)

3) use my 3 in 1 search engine page that will search your website using the yahoo, google & msn search engines [a lil bit of coding to change and stuff, u need some knowledge of javascript & but really good]

i'd recommend 2) or 3)

example for 2) - www.stfx.ca/people/x2000/x2000kuq

example for 3) www.yamsgoohooglen.tk

oh yea - and to make life easier for you i'll provide you the customized code according to your needs/preferences. so all u need to do is drop the web pages into your host and voila!

yea - and i'm a college student so i do this for my love outta' SEO projects, etc.

post back if you're interested and i'll pm you the url where u can download a zip file with complete instructions. :)

well there are loads of alternative ways, you could make your own e-html editor and make it list things in a mysql database

then use mysql to call for those keywords and find pages for it, its long winded of course you could use a pre programmed CMS lime mambo

Thanks Talkhost, that's what I wanted...why did my searches lead to search codes that demanded I register for some key?

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the suggestions :-)
