Hello I'm looking to sell reseller accounts, and heard that the only way to do so is through a dedicated server.
I wish to have details on how connecting and controlling the server works. Is it all GUI? Cpanel? Completely new to ordering a dedicated server over the internet.
If by chance, dedicated server is what I need I would like to start low with around 8GB of Disk space and 10GB of Bandwidth with expandability available. Going up to around 100GB Bandwidth and 250GB Disk Space.
This will be my 5th Hosting Provider within the last year. And I want to have a stable reliable service to rely on. So please post only serious offers, thank you.
I would need decent server specs too.
::please post if you can help, no budget will be given::
Reason: looking for a consistent price quotes.

Are you sure you are looking for 250GB diskspace, with only 100GB transfer?
About the control panel: do you familiar with cPanel? Or you can use another like DirectAdmin? You are mentioning to cPanel, I assume you are looking for a Linux box? Do you need it fully managed or un-managed? Do you have any experience to manage a Linux server?
Also, if you dont want to state your budget, you should let us know about the required hardware. We have low-end box likes Celeron 700MHz with 256MB RAM, 20GB HDD and 250GB transfer, that is enough for your starting requirement, but is that what you are looking for?

You could get a VPS/VDS and then you could expand. Similar to a dedicated server but it is cheaper, and lower specced.

No. I just wanted to point that I would need a server which could easily be expandable when needed. I had the idea to start low, and if things worked well go bigger.
About the control panel: do you familiar with cPanel? Or you can use another like DirectAdmin?
I'm comfortable with Cpanel but I have used DirectAdmin in the past and works fine, I just fine a lot other people on the internet like CPanel and thats what drives them to purhcase. I had one company which had both DirectAdmin, and Cpanel Access.
Linux box?
Deffinitly! Windows has to many vulnerbilities, and seems to easy. I'm 18 years old, and A+, N+, and Security+ Certified, I'm looking for a challenge. I have worked with many distrubutions of Linux before, even created a server before.
Do you need it fully managed or un-managed?
Well I'm not to sure what this question means, but I really like the idea of the server being managed, which I understand that it does rise the price up, but also I have someone with a lil more knowledge then me who could help me out when needed. So Managed.
Do you have any experience to manage a Linux server?
Metioned above. Server wise - Not everything worked out soo good, but did have a web server going, just a lil messy.
REQUIRED HARDWARE
Well I know what NOT an lower end system. Like I stated earlier I want a system which I can expand on, and have the ability to bring big traffic. And Would want a system which is ready for that, just the space wouldn't be, until a hard drive is added.
So I'm looking close to
2.8Ghz Xeon Processor
1GB or above Memory
800Mhz FSB
100Mbit Connection
Thanks for your comment.

I looked into that, after you metioned it. Honestly I never heard of either VPS/VDS (Virtual Private Server/Virtual Dedicated Server).
But it seems it wouldnt solve much problems from what I having now. The server will get blogged up from the other sharers, and could be overloaded. I don't want other shares.
I'm turning Greedy and Selfish, but I heard thats okay, because for this case it turns to better Performance.
I can offer you
Pentium IV 3.00 Ghz
1024 MB RAM
Two 80 GB drives
1200GB Bandwidth
CentOS (Based off RHEL 3 ES)
Prices: $99 per month with $99 setup
$119 per month with $49 setup
$129 per month with $0 setup
WHM/cPanel will cost $25 monthly
RHEL 3 ES will cost $25 monthly

You might try Rackspace. They are not cheap, but they are great. I have a friend that uses them for his business sites and he is in love with them :biggrin2:
