Whats a Fly By? When a new user to any forum signs up for the purpose of posting one link and leaving, usually never to be heard from again. Why do people do this? Why go through the trouble of registering in a forum, and submitting one post (Usually a SPAM one at that) and never coming back?

One of my favorites, although not a fly by, was the people over at ABestWeb. The Admin, whos name I will not mention, supposedly signed up in another forum for the purpose of talking bad about other forums. He was also a member of those forums as well. He signed up for forum memberships for the sole purpose of putting down other forums. Why join them then? To try to filter out the curious, and kick them over to his forums. Thats guerilla marketing at its best.

Why post in the General Discussion area if it is going to be taken so critically? What is the point of it then? If you notice, most of my posts are in this area, unless they pertain to the specific subject, then I go to that particular subjects forum.

This is a forum, I was posting info about forums, you know, something to look out for. I'm not exactly new to forums, so please dont talk to me like I am. I'm just trying to do what I can to help educate on the lesser talked about subjects. Please forgive me for trying to pass along something that may be useful or something maybe someone has thought about doing.

What I was saying was basically, (and this is why I didnt mention his name in the original post) is because he is known for being an --- on the internet. He thinks the affiliate market is his. Even he would stoop that low. Guess I'll just keep posting boring stuff since some don't see the subject behind the words.

I wasn't criticizing your post, I was just unsure of what exactly you were trying to say. I was just trying to get some clarification, that's all.

That's pretty slack, promoting your forums like that. Forums are one of the hardest things to get going, though. Tough to successfully promote in the beginning.

The usual reason people join other forums to badmouth another one, is because they were banned "for no reason" at the forum they are bad mouthing. Anyone with half a brain would know that forums don't ban for "no reason" :S Most such posts are taken with a grain of salt :)

I personally think they are funny. I mean, why go through the trouble of signing up, and posting once? If its a big forum, the message will be at the bottom by the end of the day. Whats the point of that? Instead of signing up with 10 forums, and posting one link apiece, I'd rather join 2 good ones, become an honest member, and gain credibility.
