View Full Version : Do Audio Advertisements Via ShoutCAST sell?

I'm thinking about starting a low budget internet radio station (30 slots or so) and I was wondering if it was hard to find some way to have it pay for a portion of itself (through advertising).

If people pay for advertising through shoutcast, how many listeners are they usually looking for, what bitrate they prefer (if any?), and how much somebody would pay.

Perhaps I could just throw their advertisement into the playlist the number of times they want, and charge them for it (maybe 5 cents every time it appears in the playlist), or something?

Thanks!

Well, if you have an average of 3-5 people listening, 5 cents is pretty cheap.
Start spamming up some forums trying to get people to buy ads on your server.

30 listeners isn't really a huge amount. I would say 100 before people would be really interested.

However:
It all depends on what type of station it is?
Who is your target audience?
What type of advertisers do you want to attract?
