Too vague a description. Tell us a description of professional, I;d be happy to do a mainpage(just your main intro page) for free.

Is this main page professional?

no, it's not professional... it looks okay, but not professional at all

The please enlighten me on what "professional" is.
Webcrawler at http://www.webcrawler.com has a similiar layout so I figured it was professional. I don't have the news headlines but whats a freebie site supposed to do with news headlines anyways?

Oh by the ways, drop by and look at http://www.4templates.com for low-cost templates starting from $10. Those look pretty good although I don't buy my templates I like their site.

Would this site be professional?

http://www.megaresponse.com because to me that site look too messy.

DAMN @$*# IE!!!!! I wrote an article on what's wrong with this guys page for about 15 minutes, then IE crashes :mad:

The reason why I wrote such a long article is because I HATE people who try to steal other ppl's layout
BE ORIGINAL!!!! I'll try to write down some of the points that were in my previous article

1. popups don't give you more visitors, they piss off almost every1
2. create a header instead of 2 small logos (pro5ject made them, didn't he? they look fine, but not in your layout)
3. the top navigation panel doesn't draw attention, as well as the bottom navigation panel. if you give the link colors in the panel another color (<a href="blah.html" style="color:#FFFF00;">-</a>), it might work better
4. Small detail: the "/" between sign/view guestbook doesn't look good underlined
5. The navigation menu's on the right shouldn't be on top of each other, add a margin between them and maybe you can do something "original" with them, like make them round or something... this kind of menu's can be find at 50% of the pages on the web
6. There's way to much content on your main page. There are 21 headlines divided in sub-categories. I think it's way too much to read
7. Black links suck... just keep them blue
8. Add a couple of <br>'s between the top navigation panel and the main content
9. The text in the menu's on the right is centered at the first table, and at the second, third and forth table it's aligned left. Center it all or put it all in the left, not both...
10. If you put it in the left (see 9), make sure there's a little margin
11. The banners to your affiliates or something are sticked to the border of the table, make sure there's a margin (see 10)
12. Remove the two red lines above and below the banner
13. Switch the searchbox and the top navigation panel, I really think that looks better
14. Get fresh colors, not depressing color like this ;)
15. Remove your copyright... It is NOT copyrighted by you, since you stole your layout from http://www.webcrawler.com/

http://www.megaresponse.com/ looks quite professional, but there's too much text on it I think. I mean something like this: below the first table, there are these lines:

SUBMIT 106,795,872 ADS 25,236 FFA ADS 97,656,240 FREE ADS 1,835,257 FREE ADS 25,236 CLASSIFIEDS 6,550+ CLASSIFIEDS 82,000+ FFAS FREE EMAIL ADS 1,215,521+ FREE ADS ONLINE MARKETING COURSE FREE WEB RESOURCES WIN 500,000,000 ADS ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS EMAIL MILLIONS FREE! EARN $150,000 WITH YOUR SITE 250,000,000 FREE ADS

That's something that really doesn't draw attention at all...
- size
- color
- style
These are the three most important attributes for text to draw attention (in the order of most important).

I'm not a god webmaster myself, I've made websites like http://www.boozeland.nl.nu/, http://www.odi----------/, http://www.jorandarwinkel.f2s.com/ (all Dutch, but you can look at the layout :p) and http://www.elite5.nl.nu (english, created it begin 2001, I've stopped with that one) and some more, but I defintely learn from my mistakes... if I look at my previous websites, I made about a year ago, I see that I really learn from my mistakes, and that's something everybody should try.
My advice to you is: make a new site, learn from the mistakes you've made, so you can continue improving your skills...

(amen... :p)

Grtz,
Nevermind

I guess I conform to the standard and the pop-under I can't help since I'm using a free host. I use the same design as many other freebie sites including www.thefreesite.com and www.freebiedirectory.com . I chose it because it look clean and presents alot of content(which is what freebie sites need). If you look at any freebie frontpage you'll find it has "way too much content."

Actually I just switched from a design like www.boozeland.com to my current one a few days ago.

This is funny, webmaster argueing the vague topic of what is "professional". I suggest 4templates.com.

Remember, what looks professional to someone else may look like a jumbled mess to you and vice versa.

Yeah, but they can make it so that it looks well-ordered and clear
If you just change this:

Original code
<P><FONT face="Times New Roman"><B>
<A href="http://www.10mbfree.com/archbob/graphics.html"><FONT
color=#000000>Free Graphics</FONT></A></B> <BR><FONT
color=#000000 size=-1><A
href="http://www.10mbfree.com/archbob/graphics.html">Images</A>, <A
href="http://www.10mbfree.com/archbob/graphics.html">Animations</A>
...</FONT></FONT></P>

to this:

New code
<P><FONT face="Times New Roman"><B>
<A href="http://www.10mbfree.com/archbob/graphics.html"><FONT
color=blue>Free Graphics</FONT></A></B> <BR><FONT
color=#000000 size=-1>Images, Animations,
...</FONT></FONT></P>

It will already look lots better (tip: look @
http://www.elite5.nl.nu, only at the category part, not the rest :p)

Who says your site has to be just like all the other freeB sites? be original, think of something new... something uhm.. 'fresh' :p

Euhm... nevermind the 'quote' above the code parts... can anybody explain me how you can get "code" instead of "quote" :confused:

Actually I have all I have to do is add a body tag to make all links blue. I'm treid being creative a few times but my vistors thought this design was alot better. I actually wrote the code out myself for this design.

And he wants a design so why does it matter whether its me or 4templates that does his design?

"HE" is referring to fox, the original post of this message.

Its pointless for me to buy templates if I can make better ones myself.
