It depends on your site, is it just a homepage? Or is there a message board? Or mabey a homepage for a online gaming group. How many hits per day do you get?

Lot's of things can suck up bandwidth.

no, 500 megs is a miniscule amount of transfer in a month. it's nothing.

For a text-based webpage it can be quite a lot! My webpage
(the one in my sig) had a total bandwith use of 3 mb last year :D

weezerfans.com is all text [.shtml pages] and images. lot's more html than images though, and nothing else. no downloads, etc... and i'd guess it pushes over 4 gigs a day. so i guess it all comes down to visitors' traffic.

Keith, the only way that that could be true is if each of your users viewed a meg of html/text pages. A lot, in my opinion. I mean, the stats are right on your page. Something sounds funny.

well i can't give you access to the textual stats, but yes, it's true, unless the people at tera-byte have an unreliable transfer tracking system, which it is reliable. i called to confirm because i was going to be way over my monthly transfer limit had i not done something about it. i put all the images on a separate server, and now it's pulling about 180 megs a day from the actual weezerfans.com root domain.

so yeah, it's at around 180+ megs a day now. with the images it was at around 4 gigs a day. you'd be surprised at how many people look at the gallery images and discography [and i mean they go down through and look at every single one]. plus a lot of people were hotlinking images all over the web on their sites back when the images were on the remote webspace, transfer which wouldn't be reflected in the page's hits.
