My ADSL after hibernation doesn't work.
I wake the PC up, run the ADSL connection tool. It says it connects, even shows my IP. But no programs work.
That is, 50% of the time. Sometimes it DOES work fine.
Any Ideas?

Using WinXP Pro

Are you using DHCP or PPPoE ADSL?

If it's automatically leasing IPs to you (DHCP) then your computer being on hibernation may have something to do with it...it's not going to have the same IP afterwards. PPPoE, at least you can disconnect and try again.

If you only have one computer, you can look into purchasing a new DSL modem that acts as both a bridge and a modem which would solve this problem, since you could use it as a router.

How do I tell? My modem is rented along with the ADSL service.
IPs do change each time I connect. But it works anyway. Sometimes.

Do ipconfig in DOS and paste the results here. If you're iffy about sharing your IP, then just censor it, it won't make a difference whether you do or not.
