You can't do this using the file transfer method on http://www.go-build.net . To chmd your files - you could use php ;-)

Have you specified the correct paths in your script?
You can find the absolute path on the forum:
http://www.go-build.net/forum
Hope this resolves your issue

This is a safe solid service. Fast and reliable. In no way is the continuity of this free service in doubt.

Hey, apickett75!
First, you are spamming more than answering people's questiones. Second, from reading this thread and and your board I would say your users know more about your service than you do.
There is no ftp...but you can use the file transfer protocol...you can chmod with php...can you chmod with ftp?...blah blah.
No offense, but I suggest you read the manual and then go to your board and start answering your users' questions.
Not my intention to sound harsh, but it came out that way. Sorry for that.

It's just that you say you are so good and you avoid all direct questions.
Answer at least one: Do you support CGI and how to chmod scripts on your server?
OK, 1 more just out of curiosity. What's that online ftp you claimed you had a while? :D
apickett75
July 11th, 2001, 05:39
Hello, Meow.
IN response to your questions
1. Yes cgi is supported. The pathto cgi for use in scripts is provided in the help section.
2.You can chmod files if they are created and/or manipulated using php.
e.g:
<? chmod ("/somedir/somefile", 755);?>
You can of course only do this to files and directories below your root folder - you can't change the permissions on your root folder.
3. Browser uploading of files is a type of file transfer protocol. The ftp advertised caused confusion, and I realise it appeared to be misleading so it has been changed appropriately.
I hope this addresses your questions.

Working on a user admin system to let all users upload files through standard ftp.
Demand for sub domains has been noticed and the viability of adding this service is being explored

Chris
July 23rd, 2001, 12:26
For $20 a year, one can get domain hosting, 10-20 megs of space, a gig of transfer, cgi, php4, mysql might be pushing it, but everything else, definitely.
Chris
July 23rd, 2001, 12:27
Also, maybe it's just me, but some of these free hosts work so hard to get their server off of the ground quickly; when, in my opinion, they should really get everything set up (read: subdomains, ftp, etc.) and then open.
