I set up a website (http@//ajstepney.fsn.net) and ran it on trial for a month. Then decided to correct mistakes and add content.
The result was that the new pages then had some of the gif's of the old pages and in the wrong places.
So, deleted all the pages (and gif's) in my website and loaded one index page that just said "updating". Still got the old site.
Easy, I thought, it is in the stored pages in my computer. So, deleted them. Still there. Then tried an old computer that has been gathering dust for years. My original pages are still appearing even though, according to me, I have deleted all of them, on fsn. net.

FSN support do not respond.

Is it me, and if so, what have I done wrong?
If not, why do my old pages remain when I have deleted them, and how do I get rid of them so that they can be replaced wityh the new ones.

Oh, and before anyone gets too technical, I am almost computer-illiterate so it has been a steep learning curve, thus far, and simple responses appreciated!

ok this is what you do you have to delete everything and leave it blank for like 30 mins then upload coming soon or whatever see if that works

I uploaded the "updating "page around 6 a.m on Friday.
At the same time, I deleted allother pages & Gif's.

Earlier today, at about 6 a.m, I uploaded the same numbe rof pages as I originally had, all saying "updating", in the hope that these might replace the originals.
the original index page was still showing as of about 9.30 this morning, but by about 11.00 was showing the updating. But, the other pages (page 2/3/4/etc) still show the original.

Obviously it must be in a cache or something (I guess) but is this renewed at specific intervals, times, or what?

If I upload the new pages, how long will / should it be before it actually appears?

I would gues that FSN would be the best people to ask, but as they do not respong to queries, what is the ebst thing for me to do, and how can I get updates to load in the future?

Maybe they have some kind of multiple redundant mirror servers and it takes a little while to update all of them.

If this is the reason, what is the "best guess" on how long it should take to update everything?

So far, it seems to be around 3 days, or was this because it was over a weekend?

Is there any way round it, or do I have to put up with the same problem every time I update?

And, what other hurdles am I likely to come across in the process?

OK, for the lack of anything better, at 3 am this morning I uploaded all my new files. 50+ pages + gif's etc.

On checking the site I see the "updating " page as the index, and pages 2 onwards are still the original pages (deleted last Friday_ with some of the new gif's in the wrong places, plus some old (deleted) gif's.

I will see how long it takes to sort itself out. If it does.

Now, to all the experts, is this normal?
Is this what one gets for free?
Should I find another home for my site?

Now I gotta go to work!

This morning I checked and the pages hat I uploaded last week are now there.

So, it seems that FSN take almost a week for things to filter through their system.

What hasnt yet filtered anywhere is any response from them to my queries / emails.

So, I am going to move my site elsewhere.

I am sure hat there must be many better locations, and I could not now recommend FSn for their free or any other service.
