I always hated these stupid conversions, but could anyone help me out and tell me how many gigs 477791691 MB would be

I feel like I'm missing something here but...477791.691.

 477791.691 gigs!? I think it's tme for me to find a new host then. There ain't no way I could have used that much bandwidth in the past 2 weeks...

<edit>
hmm... at $5/gig that would cost me over $2 miilion.

As if they expect me to pay that...

i doubt even yahoo uses 1/10th that. it's definitely inaccurate.

Bruce

Well, congratulations. Please tell us where you host it. I think you may have found the unlimited host at last. :p

lol, I was with http://alterhosting.com but they're just a small, private company and there is no way they could handle even 1/4 of that bandwidth

Went to an online byte converter, Don't know how accurate it is but here are the results:

477791691 bytes= 0.44498 GB
477791691 kilobytes= 455.65766 GB
477791691 megabytes=466593.44824GB

It would be not easy to controvert numbers. The fat way to make money by dishonest providers. But the ones are too mad.

looks like you have a very very very popular site! :D

May we also know the URL?

1 GB = 1024 MB

Perhaps your host was counting by bytes?

I at first thought it was bytes, but it actually said it was megabytes. It's not even possible to use that much bandwidth though.

My host has taken my site down now because they don't know how to calculate bandwidth and they're saying that I owe them over $2 million.

I bet your host is trying to rip you off.

Bruce
July 2nd, 2001, 20:07
I know for a fact they were, but it's not like I'm just gonna go and pay them $2 million anyway so it doesn't really matter now.

Are you using most of your 5 GIGs? Maybe you use more resources than most on that host and they don't like it and try to scare you off? I mean, they can't realistically think they will get that much from you (if you aren't a very rich guy).

Just a couple of days before I saw this, I was using less than 500 megs. What a difference two days make...

I wish I had that kind of money, but I'm just a student with a part time job.

Hmm strange, did you contact them already?

They're the ones who contacted me about it. Then they disabled my account.

Do you think it's a scam? Personally, I don't think so, because if the host is trying to rip you off (actually trying to get money from you), then they probably wouldn't try to bill you 2 million dollars... it would be more reasonable to both you and the host to charge you like 100 extra dollars or something, because it would seem more likely to happen. But 2 million?!

They probably just have no idea what they are doing.... heh

July 3rd, 2001, 22:52
Well it did come out to $2 million at the cost of $5/gig.

After we had a nice little conversation about this though, they were really nice about it. They told me that there was no way all of their servers together would even be able to handle that much bandwidth so they're not going to charge me that and I'm even getting a refund of the $15 I paid for the month of hosting.

It wasn't really their fault. It was that damn Plesk control pannel.

Anyway, the entire thing is all cleared up now.

I hate this whole thing. The name and especially the junior member thing.

I need my real account back.

I posted this in another thread.

I think I just realized what the problem is.

On my Phrozen account I changed my email address. I was supposed to get a vertification email which I didn't get (something wrong with the sendmail on the board?).

I was supposed to click a link to re activate that account, but since I never got the mail, I couldn't click the link, therefore vBulletin is saying I don't have permisson to post.
