To me:

1. Popup
2. Banner frame
3. Pop behind
4. Banner
5. Watermark
6. Textlink

actually, I don't really care about a watermark, as long as it isn't the Yahoo! Geocities banner that overlaps a part of the page. Textlinks are great! (No advertisements even better ofcourse  )

1. Ad Frame (I remember Webjump)
2. Pop-Ups (Geocities)
3. Banner

Isn't it called a watermark @ Geocities???
Always thought that...

I believe Geocities is the only one that uses that "watermark" ad. The host with the worst advertisements: Hypermart/V-ave. 2 popups, even when you use their code for their user placeable banners.

yep, virtualave and hypermart are the worst altough spaceports has also become very annoying

FSN used to have the worst ads (dunno how it is now)... one huge banner at the top plus two big buttons at the bottom of each page.

I hate pop-ups and ad-frames the most, and I don't like banners either. Both the other two options I can accept...

Thats funny actually. Good Text links are actually the most effective type of advertising if integrated with content!

If you think Spaceports or Geocities is bad... you haven't tried Webjump, two Large Pop-ups and this Monsterous Top-Ad Frame, that takes up 15% of the space. And whenever you click on anything, the top ad doubles.. there would be two of them and so on.

That new spaceports adframe is the worst I have seen. Damn that is big...

I've been with both webjump and spaceports and I think the new spaceports thing is worse despite webjump atrocious ads. That damn spaceport thing takes up 50% of the browser!

Come on, Spaceports' adframe isn't that bad, now. Just take a look for yourself at http://cirrus.spaceports.com/~forums/ .

spaceports changed them... before they were on the bottom and right.

I like the pop-behind that 10mbfree.com has better

Am I the only person out there who has grown to hate popunders?

They are popups, that require an extra click to bring them up before you close them.

I agree, those pop-unders are annoying. I don't look at them any longer than I look at regular popups before I close them. I'd rather just have it pop right up in front of everything so I can close it faster. With popups being one of the most profitable advertising methods on the net today, I'm seeing so many of them that I pay a lot less attention to the site or ad than I used to.

Text links haven't gotten to the point of insanity yet, but it's annoying to click one unknowingly and end up going to a chain of popups.

Webdude: How much do you make with your bottom inline banners these days? I couldn't see anyone making more than $0.25 cpm; are you doing any better than that?

Shock the monkey (http://ads.edonkey2000.com/ads/addlg2.php)

That's the most irritating banner you can find!
