hi,
i got a question about DNS and what exactly happens when you switch DNS.
I did change my DNS servers to the once of mydomain.com.
For at leas a day my site went down:-(
domain record shows already the new dns servers of mydomain.
But it seems old DNS is used.
Do i get a downtime everytime i change the DNS-servers?? as far as i know it takes 72hours until the change is made and nothing is cashed wrong anymore...
but if both dns are working (old one and mydomain) my site should be still up, shouldn't it???!
and i am pretty sure my email is not be lost, but i would get it later, or? is that true?

Well, if you could actually form your words when you type, I probably would understand you better, but it seems like the problem is with MyDomain. I registered new domains and had MyDomain as the nameservers, and it still isin't up after one week. Therefore, you may have to wait a little while longer, or switch back to the old nameservers for a while.

trying to formulate my question exact:
Do I get a time delay or even loose emails, when I change from one DNS to another DNS.
And the old one would still work (in case old DNS setting is cached). And new one is ok, too:-)
Example:
using mydomain.com now.
want to go to worldzonepro and use their dns.
are emails delayed or even lost?
if yes, what could i do to solve the problem during changing the dns-servers for my domain.
TIA

Q: Do I get a time delay or even loose emails, when I change from one DNS to another DNS.
What you should be doing, is setting up the site (with files and user accounts) on the new server, so it is ready to go for the switch. Once that is done, submit DNS changes at registrar. This will ensure that you have a working site (your original one) and a new working site (the new one) at the same time. After a week or two, you should be able to download the final mail off the old site, etc., and kill it off.

using mydomain.com now.
want to go to worldzonepro and use their dns.

They won't be lost if you follow what I wrote above.

I don't understand your question. Maybe your need answer like it:
if you transfer your domain to other nameserver, your DNS setting will unable until you set up it again on your new nameserver.
You can see your DNS setting (if running) at domainwhitepages.com.
