As surfing through the internet, I do come across many pages that do the following and I just don't get why:

1. Having a 600k graphic file that takes an hour to load(You know I'd like to see the page before a get old)

2. Having text that is one hex hue from the background---I prefer not to squint to see your text. And besides 1/4 of men are somewhat colorblind so your page is not visible to them.

3. Having an animated background--Now a moving background makes me reach for advil

4. Having a page full of banner before content---Now I want to some content in the first screenfull

5. Trick buttons saying enter that lead to a sponser--Now I understand human greed, but I want to see your site, not your sponser's

6. Having a way too big flash intro----I don't like my 1ghz computer crashing because of your so-called mega-awesome 3d rendered flash intro--just a logo would be nicer

now, please don't do these dispicable things...

Gee, they chould just remove these sites, and never allow the webmasters to ever create a site that horrible. (Why is everybody looking at me, do I wear something of you guys?)

I agree having a page loading quick, having less graphics, and simple is to what most professional websites are based on.

But, then we all cannot have a website with just the text of Hi on it? What good would that due?

It all depends on the opinion of the viewer :

1) If they like a flashy, fancy, creative, graphic intense, flash 3D'd, and busy site then they would go to one of the horrible websites you've been talking to and disregard the rest.

2) If they like the web page that looks sharp, easy to navigate, less graphics and small graphics, and just plan simple text then they won't go to the websites you described as horrible.

If we got rid off all the horrible websites then we would get rid of a good majority of the Internet newbies who put up personal webpages using easy to use builders and step by step documentation.

My Site is 99.9% Adless, there is one tiny small link to credit some site, but I don't get money from that.

Having a 600k graphic file that takes an hour to load(You know I'd like to see the page before a get old)

I seen many sites like that.. not 1 600K Graphic, but five, six, or even ten that take forever even on ADSL... come on people.

Having text that is one hex hue from the background---I prefer not to squint to see your text. And besides 1/4 of men are somewhat colorblind so your page is not visible to them.

In my site for example, at least I put real dark grayish black color on a light gray... (I don't think it is 1/4 of men are colorblind, it is about 10% though)

Having an animated background--Now a moving background makes me reach for advil

That is the worst thing possible, ugly, ugly, ugly!

Having a page full of banner before content---Now I want to some content in the first screenfull

Not a single banner ad on my page!

Trick buttons saying enter that lead to a sponser--Now I understand human greed, but I want to see your site, not your sponser's

Plenty of those around... haha!

Having a way too big flash intro----I don't like my 1ghz computer crashing because of your so-called mega-awesome 3d rendered flash intro--just a logo would be nicer

Or a skip-intro button that actually works... and doesn't take me to a 404 Site, or waiting for an entire flash intro to complete, and finding out the site was closed down.... my ADSL may be 256K, but I am not waiting 25 seconds for a flash intro to complete and find out the site was closed. A Logo or Small Flash intro with a working Skip Intro Button would be fine for me.

Those graphics load in ten seconds each (The Military ones) in 56K.

??? not being funny, but do optimize them. they (your page logos) can be at 80% compression with no real loss of quality and end up about 1/3 the size.

that Invasion of France by Allies ! can get from 163k to 17k by doing the same plus making it the same size you display it at.

that's just for starters.

(I was bored)

Those pictures are meant to be like that... I will get around to optimizing the D-Day one. But the one of the Equipiment Pages will not be, solely because I want the user to get the highest quality image.

The Design however I think is fine.
