How did this forum get all these members and stuff? I have a forum right now and no one will join. Any ideas? And how long did this forum get all these users (time e.g. 1year)?

This forum has been around for quit some time and has a catchy URL plus has tons of resources for visitors to find free and paid hosting.

The amount of members this forum has didn't happen overnight, or even in 1 year. Try 5+ years.

I think the reasons Robert just mentioned are ways to get people to join your forum.

Really, all you need is a great deal of patience and a reason why people would want to join your forum.

It was also started when it was an almost unique topic :) All those trying to reinvent the wheel won't have anywhere near the the success of the older players in a particular field :)

For instance, the biggest hosting forums were started years ago, the biggest graphics forums, tech forums, bird forums, food forums, debate forums etc etc. If you don't have something new to add to the millions of forums types around, then don't count on it being very successful.
