Hello,

I have my own meta searchengine (usepad.com). But suddenly my searchscript seems to get ignored by the server I connect to.

But there are really strange things going on.

First of all:
If I gather the requested page on let's say altavista, I get the full html document from that server. But the only thing that is screwed up, are the search results that I want to filter. It says something like: "can't connect to MySql database through socket" This line is replaced by the location where normaly the search result would be.

Second:
I placed the script on another server to see if my domain name or IP adres was blocked. The script worked without a problem on the other server.

What could be the problem?
Did they bust me? I doubt it, the searchengine I use has about 40,000,000 hits a day. I 'only' have 100,000 hits. So that's hard to notice for them.

If my domain name or IP adress seems to be blocked, is there a way to mask it? Can I hide the HTTP_REFERER that the remote script can see?

Many thanks for all your help,

lucifer

you can fake a HTTP_REFERER but if they block your IP address your f****d as far as I can tell as if you fake that who do they send the results to?

 Hmm,.. I think you got a point there. But isn't there a way to get a dynamic IP adres that covers the searchjob for me?
