You need to d/l zend and then edit your php.ini files. But you need to have root access

You'll have to ask the administrators to install it for you.

You're not going to get root access period if it's a virtual hosting account. You need a virtual dedicated server, or access to a full machine to have something as important as access to root.

Talk to customer service and ask them to have the administrators install the Zend Optimizer on the machine you're on. That's really all it takes; if they say no, you're not out of luck, you can just find a host that has it.
