Hey Guys,
Recently, I have been thinking about making a program which is like MSN IM combined with Yahoo! and ICQ to make it the best clan communication program.
I call it ClanMan. ClanMan will not be able to communicate with users of MSN IM, Yahoo!, or ICQ, but it still WILL be a great program.
This summer, I am going to try to make this program come to life.
I need people to help me with coding the database and program. I am doing this for FREE. No one gets paid, but if we do decide to put ads up, you will get your share of the profits.
Please respond to this post or email me at techbrink@home.com.
Thanks guys!
Rob

Why create it when there are already so many IM?
isn't there a program that already does this? if i'm not mistaken, i believe the name is "Trillian" or something.

Ah let him have his fun :)
Who knows, maybe it will be a darn good rival to AOHELL, Yahoo? and MSN.
Hey dude, post the URL when you get it finished!

If you are listening to suggestions...
ICQ takes up 10 megs of RAM. Yahoo! Messenger takes up 11 megs. Hmm... Do I sense a trend?
If you make an Instant Messenger, could you make it easy on the RAM? Can you make it take up 2 megs of ram or less?

Trillian it is!
With all five mediums enabled (IRC,ICQ,MSN,Yahoo,AOL) it takes up only 10-12 megs of RAM on my system.

Slimmed down version of ICQ, just has the messaging and file transfer stuff. no real time chat, no extra junk features. Uses very little memory.
But I stopped using it because it doesn't have Visible/Invisible lists, which means I can't hide from the enemies I made on icq.
this version of ICQ works in linux, correct?

I have a massive amount of ram so I don't care how much RAM a program takes up anymore... :D

I didn't use Miranda ICQ because it has to send all messages through the server. Therefore all messages are delayed by a couple of seconds and you can't send messages over 400 chars.
The lack of a real time chat sucks the most though.

miranda icq works on win9x/win2k
Licq is the one you're looking for if you use linux/unix

For ClanMan, it is going to work thru your IP system. Therefore, messages are received and sent as fast as your network can handle them. Also, I am doing this for FREE so have to use free services for databasing, etc, until I get enough money from ads to make a server in my house and convince my parents to let me host thru my ip (even if it illegal for my service). So if your changing a password, or profile, expect some lag time. And, when I launch it, I won't probably make it a stable version until a month or two after.
Heheheehe, ClamMan...
