Find the number of ways the letters from the world TURBO can be arranged such that 'U" always follows 'O" in each arrangement.

What is the correct answer?

what does 'U" always follows 'O" mean?

if it has to be directly afterwards it's just 4! = 24

if not it's

(4! * 1!) + (2! * 3!) +(3! * 2!) +(4! * 1!) = 72

120 = 5! = any order

TURBO.

since the order does matter (TURBO is different from TUBRO),
that's permutations. nPr = n!/(n-r)!

since you dont want O to follow U, divide by 2.

nPr = n!/(n-r)!(2)

5P5 = 5!/(5-5)!(2)
= 5!/0!(2)
= 5*4*3 = 60

So the answer is 60?
Formula is [5! = 5X4X3X2] / 2 ???

I knew how to figure out this problem when we were learning it, but I've forgotten it all by now. Is that summer homework or what?
