Now that hypermart has started all the crazy things ( like popping up banners along with the banner already there) ... who do you think is the best domain host ( free ) .. ??
pls consider reliability as one of the important factors ... must be allowing perl .

Thanks
Prem

www.portland.co.uk no ads... slow for cgi, though. limited to 100meg bandwidth.

I've heard that www.netfirms.com is cool

If you run a gaming site www.cheatman.net is the best.

If you have a download page or personal page, the best is www.freewebsites.com (No file size limit 50MB Choice of Ads).

Finally for comercial websites I feel the best to be www.virtualave.net (50 MB, PHP CGI SSI everything, choice of ads)

=0)

virtualave and hypermart are together. They both have pop-ups now and so does netfirms. The best choice now would probably be http://freewebsites.com but they don't allow cgi.

I use them for email, and they are up a pretty good bit.... but, their web control section stinks, and they have annoying footer ads...

hehe good point.

I just hate banners, period. my personal website uses a frame, and the banner coding always ruins the frameset... (but, if you use a cgi script to make the frameset, you can get around it)

I used to host my site with freewebsites.com, using their cjb.com subdomain... I had users.cjb.com hehe I still use it to mirror my domain, now. but, they changed it to ceejb.com, without telling anybody. I used their "email popup". it used a cookie, to only pop up onces per day. they were down a lot, though.

I agree. FWP's that force actual banner code ONTO your pages are discriminatory toward frames. They should at least be like Angelfire, Tripod, Freewebsites, etc. and give the user the choice of having inline banner ads or pop-up ads. Of course, NBCi had the best FWP advertisement for those who had frame-based websites.
