Pretty simple, post a picture of your street. I'm interested in what different countries look like.

Here is mine:

While I don't have my camera, I did manage to dig up this:

I am not far from the street visible on the left.

Your houses look closer together than the ones in our new housing estate developments. Can you hear your neighbour fart?

jmiller

Houses in my neighbourhood are about 20 or so feet apart at least.

The picture makes the area look far more condensed than it actually is.

I like Quebec, your houses are weird shapes though. Is it snow related or something?

Hmm... old pic, too lazy to take a new one now. Not really much to see when you live in the ghetto anyway. ;)

Snow + rain so it slides off the roof and doesn't accumulate.

My street (http://www.philosophyforums.com/pics/fws/backdown.jpg) and the street on the other side (http://www.philosophyforums.com/pics/fws/virada.jpg) of me.

Unfortunately I'm not as rich as the rest of the neighborhood.

This picture isn't of the whole street, just what I see outside of my bedroom window...

I live on the 14th floor. These were taken from my room. It's kinda blotched because my window hasn't been cleaned for years.

Love the classic 60's/70's home across the road Tandoc. Are you like in Elsternwick or something?

14th floor in what appears the middle of nowhere, interesting building design.

Nah, bit further out, Mount Waverley. There are a lot more along the road, but this street is slowly being demolished and rebuilt...

Yeh, alot of those trashy homes are being demolished. Especially like in Bentleigh, Carnegie, Moorabbin, Highett etc... Thank god, they are an eyesore, especially the really brown ones.

ahhh New York. Reminded by the famous speech..

"Live in New York once, but leave before it makes you hard. Live in California once, but leave before it makes you soft"

Nice Street. My former job had an office on Broadway and 5th? I don't remember the exact address.

This reminds me of a TRUE story that happened when I was in the NYC..

Our school had organised some trip for a bunch of students to go to the USA. After about 15 days, we'd gone from NYC to DC and back again, stops all along the way -- and on the 15th day we were off to catch a plane to LA. As we're getting off the bus, these two ladies walk up to the bus steps offering us tickets to the Late Show with David Letterman, free of course. Unfortunately we couldn't go because filming was at like 5, and so was our flight.

Disappointed, I cheered up anyway, since the next 2 days were to be spent at Disneyland and Universal Studios... however, when we get to the hotel in LA that night... I flick on Letterman, and I catch it during the Top 10 List.. lo and behold, he was doing 'Top 10 comments made by tourists in NYC', with actual tourists reading them out -- FOR SOME REASON, I felt that could've been us on that show, but this could just be my hyperactive imagination. It sure as hell felt real >.>

The events of this story took place about a year and a week ago today...

Manhattan was a cool place... very... full of everything....

[edit]
this was the top10 list of that night...

I wish I had singapores weather right now... I wanna see this great train system everyone is carrying on about, and the airport that takes up 5% of the countries land mass.

That's ironic, as I'm currently wishing for Australia's weather over here.

hah. I was waiting for you to post an image of your "street".

What river is it that runs along there?

Gayowulf
July 9th, 2005, 18:30
that there is the Fraser River.

as soon as the water goes down enough so that there's a beach again I'm going to build a sauna/sweatlodge down there.

But seriously. Beats where I am right now.

you're thinking of another place, Miller. I'm somewhere else for the summer... it's not so dry and desertlike

jmiller

I wondered. I thought that didn't look too much like it.
