How can I set paypal up so that if I use the buy now button it goes to paypal for them to send the money and then it brings them to a different page than the one they were on before?

you could be able to set that up in paypal itself.. check the tools available for merchant

You'll want to set up PayPal's Return URL, which can be done under Profile -> Website Payment Preferences.
