It's been ages since I last wanted a review of my site for like, SUPER LONG TIME. Only about 2 and a half years. :P
Anyways, since I thought it should be time I start up a new site or hobby, whatever, I've conjured up my next rather terrible masterpiece:
http://www.fr0mage.com/test/
It's completely tableless, using CSS, it was made in Photoshop and HTML 4.01 traditional compliant. Though my photoshop skills are rather lacking, I say this isn't too bad myself. Knowing myself however, I'd probably get tired of it very quicky. :p
I wanted something simple, something with a single colour-theme, and something that will be easy to update and navigate. I think I got that down with this. :D

For starters, if you're going to go CSS - make it XHTML at least.
the 'Fromage' header leaves something to be desired - IMO, the font doesn't go with the rest of the design, but oh well.
I'm not particularly into the black on gray, it strains the eyes a bit, a better contrasting colour would have done better, not sure what would be nice though.
You have borders on the left and right of the main 'everytyhing' holder - I'd like to see that border go all the way around the box - and align it in the middle, vertically, while you're at it - at least that's what I'd like to see.
While I like monochrome, the shades of gray chosen are too dark for my liking - even a hint of different colour, say on the bullets for example, would make it kind of cool; like a gradient fade from colour to monochrome. Just putting ideas out there.
All in all, it's not great, but it's not bad - and I like it.

I'm too lazy to make it XHTML. And I don't see any benefit to do so neither. :p
The thing is, for some odd reason, the .psd file I have doesn't want to change the saturation on the bullet picture layer. pos.
Anyways, I've re-made the bullet picture and changed the text a bit:

For the header, I'd like to have the 'camo' look. Perhaps it's just an infatuation I have with big guns, explosions, and what not, but I really like the camo look with like, a Bladerunner-type font. Greyscale is always cool for me. But I think the coloured bullets look and stand out better now.
It's just a damn shame, that the picture was taken with really bright white light reflecting off the bullets, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to drown that light out without ruining the rest of it. Also my extraction from the original photo leaves much to be desired(you can see clearly where it's jagged lol - polyganol lasso tool = not my friend).
[edit] I think I've found a compromise between the original(the one in my first post) and the one written above:

It gives the bullets a different shade of grey/whitish, giving it a sorta old-school b&w film type effect. Kinda actually looks Al Capone-ish. :o~ It looks fairly decent.

XHTML is highly recommended if you want your site to be viewed across other electronic medium. :)

its nice, lighten the background of the text area a bit, its too tough to read the black font on the dark bg.

It doesn't look all that dark on any of my computers and monitors. ;O
Anyone else have this problem?

It is readable, but yeah, that's pretty dark. I'm not gonna suggest you change it, because I think you might be as lazy as I am, and I know that if it were me....well, ---- that.

Lazier, infact.

I'd contest that claim if it weren't for the fact that it takes effort.

Even if you did, it would just prove my point.
How about now:

I think I'm going to stick with this latest version. It looks probably the best at the moment.

Here's an update on what I've been doing over the past few days:

I've been coding the back of the site for a few days now, almost done. Not much left to do. :D
