Most ISPs and webhost does not offer mailing capabilities for free.. Those who do will probably not have their service up too long before any spammer send out millions of emails thru their servers.. that could really bog down just about any network or server

Dedix, you like most of the people in this forum are the perfect reason why mail access should be allowed.... chances are you would never spam, never even send a bulk mailing. However, not everyone is like you and there are many people ho would signup for as many accounts as it takes as manyt imes as they had to to spam messages out to wherever. Hopefully sendmail will be offered in the near future but for now it's just not secure enough.

For now sendmail and stmp will not be anabled so you would need an external stmp mail server to send any messages. We will be offering free email accounts for our users but for the time being there will be no way to send email through scripts.
As for sql connections, I have installed php with mysql access. Our upgraded accounts will include a mysql database to use and our lower level accounts will work with any other standard mysql server.

you know Dedix, you can get a very very very very cheap host instead... just as little as 1 measly buck a month, depending on the host and their plan, check WHT, they've got great deals going on all the time, and they discuss whether or not to go for this host because of bad support, etc.: www.webhostingtalk.com

Why not have a strict bandwith limit. Then sendmail can also come into the picture. Suppose a bulkmailer send 1000's of mails he will overshoot his bandwith limit and you can immediately cancel his account.

THe problem with bandwidth limits for spam is two fold.
1) Updating a bandwidth count every 30 seconds or so in order to prevent spam would most likely kill any server.
2) Email messages take up only a few K of bandwidth each time, so someone could easily send tens to hundreds of thousands of messages from one account.
I am however looking at other options...
