Lol! In a fair, idealistic world, the Internet will be free for everyone. Free cars, free webspace, free houses, free shopping! Alas... someone has to pay the bills, and eventually all Internet bohemians have to don ties and suit and get a job... :D

IMPORTANT UPDATE: COPY-PASTE CODES

If you have not already updated your copy-paste codes, you have until July 24, 2001 to do so. Older codes will not function after that date.

You will only need to update your codes if you are still using old code with the old-style URL in the coding (issued prior to July 1, 2000):

Example of old code: http://www#.bravenet.com/etc.

If your coding has the word "pub##" (where ## is a number or numbers) instead of "www" you don't have to update anything.

If you have a Bravenet counter on your page, your counter code should have the word "counter##" (where ## is a number).

If you added your Bravenet copy-paste codes after July 1, 2000 you most likely will not have to do anything at all. If you are not sure, it may be wise to just get the code again and re-paste it into your Website.

If you added your Bravenet copy-paste codes after July 1, 2000 you most likely will not have to do anything at all.

i dunno what you wanted to say exactly, but i think you meant that the free hosts need advertisements to keep up their free service
if so, i have to ask you something, how is it that, a lot of free host can serve the people without putting any ads on hosted sites?

Other sources of income. Like f2s, they have an ISP biz.

What a silly question! Tell me, Dedix, when is the last time you see a thriving adfree internet webhosting or service biz? Crosswinds is mooing its last breath, f2s can be as slow as hell at times, and... and... anymore? Most are dead, dying, or implementing ads now.

Between you and me, I'd take a stable host with ads anyday than an adfree host that may or may not go belly-up the next day, taking my site down under.

Face it - when the Internet was at its early stage (early as in the public finally discovered how fun it is to bleed money out of VPs for silly online proposals), everyone wants to give everything for free to "build a brand name." Alas, at the end of the day, they learn the hard way that no-paying-customers = bankruptcy.

Go read an economics book sometime. The virtual world isn't exemp from the common laws of the economy, not when someone has to pay the bills.

With all the money they make why would bravenet use CA?

I can bet CA will benefit big time with this...

Almost everywhere, even here in our country, there are free ISP providers but they bombard our screens with advertisements.

A correction. CA was recently bought by about.com. So most probably bravenet has tied up with about.com to offer freewebspace and above.com is big company so most probably they paid huge sums of money to start the service.
IMHO the banner looks good if you choose the right colours for your website.
